Is it just me or does the "CAREN" seem very similar to the BMW 2 series Active Tourer? The resemblance is uncanny for sure! Looking at their international line up, this may have been a part of Kia transforming to a more affordable version of BMW.

Kia probably will have some people sitting up and taking notice from the BMW circles, if this is what ends up being launched. Regardless, looking forward to what KIA has in store for us.

Listen, Kia! I know what you did with the platform of the Indian Seltos that got it a mediocre (for its price) Global-NCAP rating.

Don't repeat such behaviour with the Kia Carens/Rondo replacement or 2nd generation Kia Carens/Rondo for India! Even if you're going have a platform that's somewhat different from the developed market one, do ensure that it gets atleast a 4* rating from Global-NCAP, if not a 5* rating!

And while you're at it, make the necessary changes to get at least a 4* or 5* rating for the Seltos, and if necessary for the Sonet as well. A mediocre 3* rating for a car above 1 million rupees is so disappointing!

Kia KY MPV (Kia compact MPV) for India to launch in 2022.

Kia compact MPV that is being developed for India has been codenamed ‘Kia KY’. The new Kia MPV for India (represented in the display image) would be launched in January 2022

The company is working on a second strategic model (after the Kia Sonet) designed mainly for India, and it’s an MPV internally designated the codename ‘KY’.

The Kia KY MPV would be a compact 7-seater competing with variants of the Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Innova Crysta and the Mahindra Marazzo

The Kia KY MPV would ride on the same platform as the Kia Seltos (Kia SP2) and the second-gen Hyundai Creta (Hyundai SU2). There is a possibility that it turns out to be a sister model of the Hyundai MPV for Indonesia that is rumoured to be called Hyundai Staria and scheduled to enter production in H2 2021

The Kia KY MPV would slot below the third-gen Kia Carnival (Kia YP) and will be manufactured at the Anantapur factory. The company has set an annual sales target of 76,000 units for this model, 50,000 units of which would go to Indian customers. The remaining would be allocated to export markets, which would be mostly or only emerging countries where the Maruti/Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Avanza are dominant.

New models are always welcome.Especially since Innova is now more into luxury segment in terms of price so there is definitely a market for a 15-20 Lakh MPV

Even Maruti and Toyota is in the process of developing a MPV in the same price range

But what I have to say to KIA /Hyundai group is to not take Indian market as granted.

Also Just stating Magnite as an example, I never expected it to score 4 Star in ASEAN NCAP since it Screamed " Built to Cost " especially inside the cabin but surprisingly they didn't compromise on safety, On the other hand here is KIA who looks like a star kid but hiding a major flaw inside.

It would be safe to assume that with KIA MPV, Hyundai will offer something similar with relatively less price and features.

The MPV segment is heating up and soon will become saturated with a lot of launches apart from the existing ones. No matter what, Toyota Innova and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga may still remain the leaders in their respective segment until they ruin the generation updates badly.

Does anyone has latest detail on this Kia KY launch? Having read available information, i plan to wait till this launch to decide my purchase between Alcazar Vs XUV700 Vs KY Vs Ertiga (budget).

Kia India's upcoming model to be a 6 and 7-seater MPV.

The new Kia MPV should, however, borrow the same extended architecture from the Alcazar.

Kia India is expected to style this MPV along the lines of the new Carnival available internationally.

Kia 7-seater spied in India, based on Sonet ?

the front DRLs are similar to the ones that the regular Sonet gets. The ORVMs that the test mule is sporting are exactly similar to the ones that the regular Sonet comes with. The window beltline also indicates a Sonet underneath the camouflage. Moreover, the brake lights and the high-mount stop lamp reveal a light pattern similar to the Sonet.

Even the hood clearly resembles the one that the Sonet gets. With all of this, it can be established that it is a Sonet 7-seater that is being planned for the country. Apart from these, roof rails and spoiler are the ones that come with the Sonet. The doors follow a much sharper line when compared to the Sonet. This might have been done to enhance the headroom in the cabin.
