The variant that MSIL thinks will salvage the lost market with sunset of the DDiS. I'm sure they aren't too optimistic about numbers either. This is the moment for Marazzo to grab on the opportunity with open arms!

Temporarily. Maruti is working hard & fast to make its 1.5L Diesel BS6 compliant. That engine will also come to the Ertiga.

Re: Maruti Suzuki launches BS-VI Ertiga S-CNG, priced at Rs 8.95 lakh

Hi,
I have a Aug 2019, Ertiga ZXI Automatic variant which gives me currently a very poor mileage of 10kmpl in city 12-13 kmpl on the highways. Can anyone help and confirm if the maruti OEM CNG kit can be installed in the AT version in the maruti service centres in Pune

Isn't it better to ask the service center itself ? Just call them and ask and you will get a definite answer. I am sure people here will have both Yes and No answers.

Rumour: Maruti Ertiga ZXi to get CNG option

According to a media report, Maruti Suzuki is likely to introduce a top-spec ZXi variant of the Ertiga S-CNG.

The BS6-compliant Ertiga S-CNG was launched earlier this year. At present, it is only available in the VXi trim. The ZXi variant will include features such as alloy wheels, 2-DIN audio system, automatic climate control, keyless entry, engine start / stop button and height adjustable driver seat among others.

The Ertiga S-CNG is powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 91 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 122 Nm @ 4,400 rpm when running on CNG, as opposed to 105 BHP and 138 Nm when running on petrol. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

CNG is working well for ERTIGA in the absence of a diesel engine. Wonder why can't Maruti try hiding that small CNG tank under the front seats? It would have liberated the boot space and shall offer better utility.

I think it would be due to weight distribution. The front wheels already have more load even with an unladen car and a CNG tank below the front seat would increase that.

May be a CNG car needs to be designed group up with a CNG tank requirement during planning phase to optimize the space distribution

I would love to see a 4-seater (all captain seats) Ertiga with a flat (not cylindrical), long-range CNG tank in the boot and room for a lot of luggage.

You can modify XL6 by removing the third seat and finding a big CNG tank that fits in the book.

I am not a fan of installing after-market CNG kits. There are many advantages of factory fitted CNG kits:
  1. Separate ECUs. One dedicated for petrol and the other dedicated for CNG. Performs much better than the aftermarket.
  2. Factory fitted CNG kits have dedicated fuel filters for CNG that prevent oil from the compressor ending up in your engine. Someone wrote a whole thread about advantages of this.
  3. Warranty is not voided when you use factory fitted CNG.
  4. Your fuel gauge and distance to empty in the MID work with the CNG as well.

“ 91 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 122 Nm @ 4,400 rpm”

That is one terrible engine. How come this thing pull with such lowest engine power, especially fully loaded on ghats etc ?
