The problem with such drastic polarising designs is that regardless of the initial impressions, such designs tend to age really fast. The old generation Creta still looks good from the outside with well proportioned curves and tail lamps. This one will not carry the same impressions 2 years down the line.

Regardless of the design, this car is surely going to keep finding a lot of buyers. However, it would be very interesting this time around as unlike last time, there is an equally competent product from Kia catering to the same segment. I am very keen to see if they both end up fighting with each other for sales or rather both end up taking away customers from other segments while maintaining their numbers individually.

The most obvious difference between the two is the dashboard design. While the ix25 gets a huge tablet-esque 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system stacked in portrait-mode, i.e., vertically, the India-spec Creta will also get a 10-inch touchscreen unit for the infotainment display, but it will be conventionally-mounted (horizontal). The aircon vents on the former are quite sleek and disjointed from the touchscreen, whereas in the latter, the housing for the aircon vents is right above the infotainment screen. Other that than, the instrument console also seems different. The ix25 features an all-digital instrument cluster, whereas the 2020 Hyundai Creta seems to make do with conventional dials. There is, however, a possibility that the top-spec trim might offer an all-digital setup.

I think the reason the interiors were blacked out as it is not finalized yet . But it looks subtle and well laid out. The absence of the traditional hand-brake brings out some space. My wish list from Hyundai goes as below
1. A fully loaded Turbo petrol Auto Variant
2. 360 - view camera
3. Fully digital instrument cluster (New i20 is going to get that now)
4. 1.4 L turbo petrol engine with 7 speed DCT (Few sites have shared that it may come with 1 L turbo petrol, which will be a downer in this segment)
5. Drive modes
6. Blind View monitor
5. Paddle shifts (Some of the forums have reported this feature)

Yesterday saw the new Creta at Tambaram, Chennai, driven by a pathetic Hyundai driver and it had two Korean occupants.

My observations below

1. Those DRL's are humongous
2. Softroader appearance. Looks bulbous, with a wide stance.
3. Front Grill is not that bad as seen in pics here.
4. Back, Side Profile resembles a blown up Venue rather than a successor of the current Creta
5. That MMSL (Mid Mounted Stop Lamp) and the stop lights are Hyundai's regular gimmick
6. It was quick on the roads and the driver was able to leap it up fast.
7. Looks premium than the current version from the outside.
8. No variant/fuel badging
9. CRETA lettering at the back seems to be a bit downward

Can it eat in to Seltos share? Doubtful?

As expected, Hyundai gives us the step-motherly treatment and no portrait touchscreen for India. However, I guess it might also have something to do with the fact that production of said portrait touchscreen might have been expensive in India. I’m just guessing. Can mods or any insider throw any light on this or opinions as to why India didn’t get the portrait touchscreen?

2020 Hyundai Creta to come with aggressive pricing to reclaim numero uno position - to undercut sibling Kia Seltos?

Hyundai has thrown everything it possibly can into the new Creta, including several class-leading features like an electronic parking brake, panoramic sunroof and the latest connected tech.
It does miss out on the option of a head-up display (HUD), which is available on the higher-spec Seltos GTX and GTX+ variants. “An HUD is too expensive and customers don’t really see the value in it so it’s better to use the money elsewhere,” said a Hyundai source. And that money has been used in enhancing the cabin ambience.
Under the skin, the new Creta will use the same running gear as the Seltos, including the identical engine and gearbox combinations. However, the suspension system “has been retuned and slightly softened for Indian roads,” said a Hyundai engineer.
Given Hyundai’s strong desire to snatch back the Creta’s no. 1 status, company insiders have indicated that the new Creta will be launched with a particularly aggressive price that could even undercut the Seltos.
“The price will rock the market,” said a Hyundai official.
The fierce rivalry between Hyundai and Kia could trigger a fresh price war, the reverberations of which will be felt throughout the SUV segment and compel manufacturers to rethink their pricing strategies.

There will be 8 single tone colours and 2 dual tone options. Single tone colours on offer are Mulbery Red, Galaxy Blue, Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Titan Grey, Phantom Black, and Lava Orange. Dual tone colour options are White with Black roof and Orange with Black roof.

Thanks for the info RavenAvi. It would be great if this were true. But I really doubt Hyundai Creta will undercut Seltos and shake up the market because of the following reasons:
1) Everywhere in the world Kia is cheaper than Hyundai. I doubt they would want to change that perception.
2) It does not matter whether Kia or Hyundai sells more. After all, it is money going into the same pocket.
3) Sheer greed. Hyundai has always been greedy. I doubt this trait will change suddenly.

I think, if anything, Hyundai pricing will shake up the market in the opposite direction. Other manufacturers will be tempted to raise their price after seeing the price of Creta.

Wow! the variant distribution seems spot on this time around. Happy to see Hyundai offering top-end variants for multiple engine/transmission alternatives. Morevoer, this one also addresses the issue of offering a true top end variant for Diesel/MT which is still not available in the Seltos (Diesel/MT is available only in HTX+ as a top end variant, and not GTX+ which is available as a Diesel/AT). I for know many potential customers for this variant, who then later had to settle for the AT unwillingly for the amazing features, that the GTX+ offers.

Hopefully, the variant wise feature distribution is done properly as well. Knowing Hyundai, and their previous records, I am not too sure this one will undercut the Seltos. My guess would be either similar pricing or almost 20k premium over the Seltos.
