I would put off other discretionary purchases to invest in the models with extra safety ,order less pizza😑. I am telling you, if you compromise now, you will surely have that gnawing back of your mind for 1.5 lac, when you have already spent over 15-16 big ones. Besides you get more features overall. I have been there myself( regret not purchasing an AWD Duster for 1.5 lac extra).

I would go for the City if ground clearance isnt a big issue. Its CVT is one of the better ones out there. If its DCT or diesel AT, I’d go with the Creta.

Re: 2nd-Gen Hyundai Creta @ Auto Expo 2020. Edit: Launched at 9.99 lakhs

As per a post on the Creta Owners FB Group,

A member in Banglore replaced the silver alloy wheels with diamond-cut ones for Rs 22,000 after buyback of silver alloys from the dealership itself.

So, if anyone is looking to replace the alloys in SX or turbo variant it might help you.

.
Side curtain airbags are actually more a necessity in a higher riding SUV than in a sedan with low centre of gravity. Side airbags provide protection for the thorax against impact from other vehicles on the sides of the car, whereas side curtain airbags are providing protection for the head and very importantly protection in the case of roll-overs. If the car rolls over while cornering or due to impact, the curtain airbags deploy and prevent head injuries from the vehicles’ body or roof panels that may flex into the cabin space.

http://m.howsafeisyourcar.com.au/Curtain-Airbags/

We know from basic physics that vehicles with higher centre of gravity are more prone to roll-over. So you actually need the side curtain airbags much more in the Creta than you do in the City. So by buying the Creta and not going for side curtain airbags, it is a double-whammy. Please consider this aspect in your decision.

This is the one reason I am finding it hard to replace my Ecosport Titanium (O) TDCI even after 7 years. There are very few options of compact or mid-size SUVs with decent power, good drivability and having 6 airbags like my Ecosport has, under Rs. 20 lakhs.

I completely agree to this point. After 5 years I still curse Hyundai for not launching the VTVT SX(O) from the word go. Ofcourse, I didn’t have an option back then & for me it was a strech of a whopping 2.5 L to opt for the Diesel SX(O). But things are much better now & Hyundai is offering top spec trims in both the engine / transmission options. So I suggest if you can strech, please do so. I am sure you’ll enjoy it in the long run, especially if you hold onto your cars for long.

Thanks so much for adding these critical points. Makes my car buying decision a bit more complex, but well worth the complexity

If that is an option, I guess its a must take for all creta owners. These alloys do make a difference to overall stance and look of the car. 2nd-Gen Hyundai Creta @ Auto Expo 2020. Edit: Launched at 9.99 lakhs-3638974079d348ecadde0a7236cb251f.jpeg

Re: 2nd-Gen Hyundai Creta @ Auto Expo 2020. Edit: Launched at 9.99 lakhs

2020 Hyundai Creta has recorded over 55,000 bookings since its launch in March and it is the diesel models that are more preferred by buyers. Diesel models form 60% of total bookings.

Pardon my language, but I think there cannot be a bigger slap from general public on the faces of MSIL management than this. This, in-spite of them having a superb 1.5L diesel engine which is taking forever to convert to BS6.

If not for the pandemic, Hyundai + Kia combo would have taken a huge chunk of market share from MSIL by now. Pandemic or not, Venue + Sonet is going to take Brezza to cleaners!

Re: 2nd-Gen Hyundai Creta @ Auto Expo 2020. Edit: Launched at 9.99 lakhs

I was trying to use Hyundai 'Click to Buy' for checking out Creta 2020. I was interested in Diesel SX(0) AT and I selected the same.

Strangely, in 'Polar white' and 'Phantom Black' shades, I get option to select either of Moss Grey or Obsidian Black interiors.

I checked with the Dealership Sales associate, but he confirmed that black interiors are only available with 1.4 Petrol model.
I got a call from 'Click to Buy' website sales associate and they confirmed that if its shown in website, it is available and I can place the order directly in the website and they will deliver the specification and interiors as mentioned in the site.

Has Hyundai started providing black interiors for all Creta engine options? If not, this is a big mistake in their click to buy program and an even bigger one from their online sales associate.
I am able to select the black interiors for even base diesel and 1.5 petrol models.

I had the same confusion when I placed my booking - I opted for the Phantom Black when booking the Turbo 1.4 but as you proceed further, it corrects to Deep Forrest.

And when I tried the non Turbo models to get the Black interiors, the Showroom confirmed it's not possible. They even went on to say that the website is misleading but that I could go ahead and book the vehicle on the site and they'd proceed from there (shrugs)

I ended up booking the Turbo Deep Forest with the Black interiors, expecting delivery next week!

A lot of us, including myself have been critical of the 2020 Cretas design, and for sure the design lacks the cohesiveness that the earlier Creta or even the Seltos has. But when I did see the car in person, like most folks have already commented here, it doesnt look as bad from certain angles. Front profile looks very good, the DRLs give it a very futuristic look, especially in dark colours like Black, and the rear profile too looks good from a distance, especially with the tail lights on. So I think Hyundai messed up with the overall design language, but still got some things right and customers are lapping it up for that reason. Im hoping that this new Creta, Aura are the last of such designs and Hopefully the new design language being showcased in the 2021 Elantra and Tucson are the future cues.

Hi, could you post some initial impressions from the first month of ownership of your Diesel E model? How is the turbo lag, acceleration in the highway and the fuel efficiency? How about the seat comfort?

It sure looks like a VFM buy and now Hyundai are hinting at cash discounts of around 10K. My feeling is this is a loss leader for Hyundai and it is likely to undergo a price revision pretty soon, just like this happened with the Seltos. I am toying with booking one in the Galaxy Blue color, but have a lot of unanswered questions due to the absence of a proper team bhp review yet.

After a long wait of over 2 months since booking the Creta SX petrol MT arrives home.
While the experience at the dealership was anything but stellar, the frustrating time period is now over.
It will be sharing the garage with the 8 year old dzire VDi now. I will pen down the initial ownership experience with the car soon.
