I was scrolling down to type that this is not a very good looking car(The 2020 pictures), but the 2021 is a striking combination of Mercedes design with a Mustang's nose. It does look good, but more than it was in 2020, today sedans are a dying breed. However, if MG does what it did with the Hector, and prices it one segment below, its going to surely shake things up. I dont think it will be a huge sales success, but the price point will definitely bring in some people who may buy up one segment to get a car that would be effectively 2 segments up.

The rear is highly Mercedes inspired. Good looking car none the less.

Re: MG Motor's premium sedan for India

MG does not have the brand pull or snob value to get customers to buy the sedan. So i dont understand the market segment they are targeting with this premium sedan. To me the only potential customer are Honda City people who can be lured by VFM tag or Skoda Octavia people who can be lured by offering outright performance.

I'm sorry - the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the side profile is '10th-gen Civic'. Am I the only one?

Also, what's up with the Brit-Dynamic badges everywhere? There's one on the Astor's dashboard too and now one on the back of this sedan. It makes it too obvious and does not go down too well with those who know it's based on an SAIC product (the public is becoming increasingly aware). As someone who knows it, I think I'd like it better if they didn't try so hard.

Re: MG Motor's premium sedan for India

Reviving the Sedan segment, the All New MG 5 Sedan spied in Indonesia, to take on Honda City and Toyota Vios( Indonesia):

Quote:
The All New MG 5 Sedan has a total length of 4,675mm, which is only 3mm shorter than the All New Honda Civic RS Sedan. While the wheelbaseis at 2.68 meters. In fact, the width of the All New MG 5 Sedan is at 1,842mm which is 40 mm wider than the Civic. So, this car goes into the City and Vios price segment with dimensions equivalent to Civic or Altis. An advantage that seems to be an interesting point for those of you who consider the abundant space in the price segment. As for the engine, the All New MG 5 Sedan uses a 1,500cc 4 cylinder 15S4C engine with VTi-Tech technology that produces a maximum power of 114 hp at 6,000 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. Power and torque that we think is a bit fitting for a bongsor sedan, moreover this car uses a CVT automatic transmission made to have virtual gear as much as 8 acceleration.

MG7 debuts in China:

exhaust pipes at the back reveal that this is a car with petrol, rather than electric, power. There are a choice of two engines: a 2.0-litre turbo with 254bhp and 405Nm of torque or a 1.5 turbo with 183bhp and 300Nm. Drivers can up the excitement with an X-Power button that enhances the engine notes and sharpens steering response.

MG’s new Black Badge series flagship MG 7 likely to come in 2023

The all-new MG7 was recently launched in China and is currently positioned as the most expensive MG car in the brand’s portfolio.

Unlike earlier, the new MG7 boasts a five-door body style and an aerodynamic design that gives it a strong road presence. Speaking of the design, the car gets a strong and muscular styling complemented by aggressive LED lights and a larger front grille in addition to a sharp front bumper design. Furthermore, the car also gets prominent cuts and creases on the hood and the body panels.

The new MG7 is being offered with two powertrain options while a plug-in hybrid option is expected to be introduced soon. The first powertrain option includes a 1.5L turbo engine that churns out 183 bhp and a peak torque of 300 Nm. This engine comes mated to a seven-speed DCT gearbox that channels power to the front wheels.

The new MG7 adopts a low-slung fastback silhouette, depicting a muscular body with strong dynamic lines and pronounced rear shoulders. It features sharp aggressive-looking headlamps, a dominating grille, a muscular profile with ample creases, frame-less doors, full-width connected tail lamps, racy lips, quad exhausts, and an active spoiler.

Rumoured to be launched in India end of 2023, the launch price for the base variant in China is $17,400/-.
