I was driving in Bangalore and noticed a white Evo or a new lancer zipping past from the opposite side. Of course, I could not take any pitcure.

A li'l Birdie says the New Lancer should be out before July '09. The EVO shall be out later. No news on that yet.

The birdie also goes ahead to speculate on the pricing..but I'm sceptical on that front...the bottom end, or the Lancer "GS", is supposed to be on the southern half of 10L....let's see...

Forgive my Pessismism, Sir. But today's market sees the abomination named Fabia sell for 9 lacs. And in good numbers too, at that. The Nano only changes the VFM perspective for logical thinkers. If a Nano can be produced for a Lac, imagine the margins being squeezed by auto makers & Govts. (by means of taxes). Heck, just take the R15, for example....1.10 L on-road. Priced as much a Nano. VFM? You tell me. The Ninja 250 for example, for the same price would've been a better argument.

Business ethics hold no water in matters of the heart. Which is the case for most Indians, as a car is an item of luxury, an asset for 85% of the population. Not an amenity or a necessity, as is the case elsewhere. Therefore, automakers can get away with whatever pricing that they want to here. The Lancer could be dicey, because Mitsubishi is a low-value brand in terms of market presence and resale numbers. If it were, say, Skoda, they could launch the new Lancer for 19 lacs and still get away with it....

With almost all automakers delaying their launches/projects, don't be surprised if new Lancer also gets delayed.

its kinda stupid though, car makers should actually be launchin their cars now, cuz it would make ppl buy these cars and boost sales, instead of waitin till the economy gets better.

I am thinking about the current Lancer Diesel 2.0. There are strong claims about its mileage(20.02 kms/litre). I really don't know if buying a decade old model is wise or not.

No launch Date out yet but the car should be out by July as per an insider (Marketting Dept.) , but the news is that the lancer will be selling under the name LANCER GALANT .

Any idea why they are combining the names of the two cars? Is it to place it as a premium product?
