Precisely why you need to read the T&C and scope of extended warranty coverage very carefully.

That is an issue for me since my running is going to be very low (I have done 10K in 7 years with my current Swift), because of which I don't see the point of servicing every 3-4 months. I will end up doing servicing with barely a few hundred km run between services.
Not sure which car you have but if there's been an overall positive feedback on reliability, a 10 year extended warranty may not be of much value as it would for a car with high running. Obviously, failures are generally in direct proportion to total running/mileage in a month or year. TBH certain cars, especially the lux marques absolutely require an extended warranty because their repair & part replacement costs are eye wateringly high. While for Jap and Korean vehicles I believe extended warranties are a nice to have but not a must have. Again this goes for cars that are not used much. Low mileage brings another set of issues into the mix but I digress.

So after the 1st yr (or after I am done with the free services), I feel I am going to incur more costs in doing these 'frequent' scheduled services as per the schedule, just so that I am eligible for a warranty claim, if/when it happens.
Yep, if they say it needs to go in for a service every x months or y km, whichever occurs first, you have to follow their specified schedule till such time the warranty is valid. No two ways about it. If you car is not going to be used much think long and hard if you really need that coverage. Remember though that most manufacturers only cover the engine and drivetrain components. Other bits and pieces like infotainment or aux electronic systems, brakes, oils, filters, coolant, etc are normally excluded. So again, please check the T&C and the scope of coverage in the extended warranty very carefully.

Re: Honda India now offers 10-year warranty!

My Honda Jazz V-cvt is currently in the 7th year of the warranty. I was skeptical about the tall claims of the warranty but this year I have recovered every penny I have paid for the warranty and more.

The AC blower was changed since it was making a humming noise, the cam sensor was replaced due to an error code and lastly the whole power steering assembly was changed due to a minor rattle. The power steering unit was changed after a long friendly chat with the service advisor. All this was under warranty.

So from my experience, I am going to keep paying for warranty till the 10th year and service every 6 months.

I have been advised to get the whole suspension overhaul due to bushes getting hard and age of the car. This is not covered in warranty but I will get it done in the next service since the ride quality is no longer what it should be. My trusted mechanic has confirmed the same regarding work needed.

In 7 years the Jazz has only done 38000 kms of city driving.

The only non OEM parts on my car is OBD based auto door locks, Dash cam, seat covers, battery and 185 section tires.

With the mix of Honda's product portfolio and their 'laggard' response to market demands will they be around in 10 years time!!??

Re: Honda India now offers 10-year warranty!

Interesting. I have had my 2000 Model Year OHC for 27 years and never had a repair per-se. Only routine maintenance and wear and tear stuff. Still serviced at the dealer since inception. Keeping it for my son to take to college next year :-)

Can you please enlighten me regarding registration ? Does it really become invalid after 15 years ? Is there a way to extend the registration ?

Please share your experience. Thank you for sharing, I also own a Honda and I don't think I am going to change it in my lifetime

Re: Honda India now offers 10-year warranty!

I have a Honda Amaze bought in 2018. I have opted for anytime warranty from 6th year onwards. Recently, the AC of the car stopped working. After diagnosis by filling the ac gas, the service center decided to replace the evaporator. Part and labor for the replacement were covered under anytime warranty. AC is running fine now. I am going to renew the warranty every year till 10 years.

Re: Honda India now offers 10-year warranty!

Can this be bought at the time of the car purchase or it has to be renewed every year after 5th year? Elsewhere in some YouTube video comments I have seen someone mentioning getting 10 years warranty by paying ₹30000 while purchasing an Elevate.

Re: Honda India now offers 10-year warranty!

This proves that Honda cars are almost boringly reliable. Honda just needs to 'jazz' their products up a bit by matching powertrains with competition.

This has to be purchased every year after 5th year. Last I checked there’s no option to purchase warranty till ten years in one go. The extended warranty is for 4th, 5th year after which it’s called anytime warranty which is a rolling warranty of 1 year to be purchased every year provided certain criteria are met. It is improbable that Honda will sell 10 years of warranty for only 30k. Below link gives the details.

This comment should be taken as an endorsement of Hondas quality and service. If it ain't broke why fix it.
Well done Honda.

Regarding jazzed up engines I presume we're referring to (lack of) turbos. Can anyone share authentic data showing splits between NA and turbo in same model sub example Seltos, Creta. Would be interesting to see how much market potential Hondais missing.

While the aam bhartiya would surely be more focused on NA engines, Turbos are becoming more prevalent. Honda must have done the Cost Benefit Analysis. I am after all an armchair/ bed critic so easy for me to comment!

Another interesting development is recent announcement of 7 years extended warranty by Honda.

This shows their confidence! Would love to see WV and Nissan- Renault pull a similar trick out of the bag.

More powe to Bhartiya Grahak!
