As mentioned above this will be a CBU and will not have speed alert and does not need homologation as well if already homologated in home country.

True! The rule clearly says speed alert system is for all the cars sold in India, not made in India.

Oops my bad. I was told by a manufacturer that this speed warning is not there in CBU cars that don't need to be homologated.

Sincere apologies to everyone as well. I was also told by a manufacturer regarding the same. To clarify, is this speed warning 'modification' the only 'new' thing mandated by MoRTH/ARAI for all CBUs (apart from the usual requirements like RHD, reverse sensors, passenger airbags) which I am assuming all such vehicles already possess?

From what I recall from the discussion, EU-6 vehicles imported under the CBU 2,500 units scheme are exempted from BS-VI requirements, and hence not subjected to 'type approval' under CMVR. Is this understanding also correct then?

It is merely a case of updating the vehicle software within the instrument module to the India spec from Euro spec. I'll say no more!

That was quick isn't it? Not sure how many would be able to afford ~36+ big ones for RS245. But now that India launch is officially confirmed, can we have all the existing owners of VRS list their steeds in team-bhp classified - wishful thinking yeah

If it was 32 on road - I would've stretched. 36 ex showroom = ~42 on road that would be too much of a stretch for me personally. I actually wish they launched the RS230 version and I would have bought it (or at-least tried to given only 200 units are coming in)

The most interesting addition to the CBU model would be the electronically adjustable dampers. I'm fairly certain it will come with it.

But being a CBU, I expect the price to be quite absurd. In Bangalore, on the road, I wouldn't be surprised if it's mid-to-high 40s.

This will put it pretty close to the likes of the new 330i, making it out of reach for many.

However, with only 200 units being shipped, I wouldn't be surprised if they are all spoken for within a month, if not two weeks!

Personally, the older vRS models were more suited to our roads and would be my pick. The CBU models with their lower chassis and larger wheels may make it a pure weekend car.

It will be interesting to see how VW positions the Golf GTI, if and when it eventually makes it to our shores.

At 40+ Price OTR, I hope it doesn’t receive the same treatment as the Polo GTI, which Volkswagen with even 100 units found it difficult to sell at the initial price.

Also, the dealers seem to have no news on the RS yet, so i just registered online. Now the wait begins but the price and ground clearance are playing on the back of my mind.

At least in the UK (where the RS230 has been discontinued), the RS245 comes with the VAQ E-LSD as standard. The DCC though is a GBP 850 option.

Incidentally, Autocar UK had tested both the standard 230 & the 245 Challenge (albeit with 19" tyres + DCC), and commented:

"While the incorporation of the electro-mechanical diff into the 245’s front axle is obviously about negating the standard vRS’s tendency to understeer at the limit, it is the superior body control being meted out by the DCC system’s Sport mode that initially takes centre stage on the hill route."

Given Skoda's tendency to upscale the IN-bound vehicles, they will almost certainly add the DCC to the specs to differentiate it unless VW India throws their toys out of the pram to say that DCC must be 'reserved' for the Golf GTI

Will the incoming petrol be also having an all wheel drive setup?
