Along with the visual improvements, the Japanese manufacturer has added new technologies and features amidst upping the premium status of the Civic with the use of more upmarket materials. The facelifted Honda Civic is a hot-seller in the European and American markets and it can be reserved in the United Kingdom from next month onwards.

The deliveries of the first lot of 2020 Honda Civic will commence from January. Unlike in India, the Civic is retailed across the globe in multiple guises including a hatchback body style. The exterior gets new LED Daytime Running Lights, restyled fog lamp surrounds and full LED headlamps are part of the standard package.

Honda has bolted the facelifted Civic on a set of newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels in the base trim while the rest of the trim levels adorn 17-inchers dubbed the Shark Grey. The cosmetic updates are accompanied by new premium textures to the cabin, as well as more simplified physical buttons and controls for infotainment system and automatic climate control.

The range-topping variant comes fitted with an eight-way power adjustable driver seat. Expect the updated Honda Civic to make its way into India ahead of the BSVI deadline of April 2020.

The segment will see intensified competition next year as the next-gen Toyota Corolla are Skoda Octavia are likely on the cards. Honda might debut the nine-speed auto in diesel as in the CR-V to further expand the Civic’s range.

I could be wrong but this looks like an Accord to me. Where are the sporty characteristics, the fun elements, of a Civic in this new avatar?

The Civic is still quite fresh on our roads. If I see a Civic around, I don't feel bored and I do take a moment to have another glance at it. And Honda is already ready with a facelift !! Volkswagen should learn from Honda in this aspect, with respect to the Vento and Polo.

Your post has put me in a weird sense of confusion. You must be either a hard-core Sedan fan or the opposite. May I know in what sense did you make that statement ? I'm curious.

What's the difference? I'm struggling to find any, except for a small element between the headlamps and foglamps!

Surely a very subtle facelift this time around.

Although VW are way too slow to update but for others there is nothing special to follow. Civic was just launched a couple of years later in India compared to the global launch, and due to BS6, this face-lift is coming on the heels of the global launch in India. Anyways it's a very mild face-lift. More discerning members can point out the change because honestly apart from a small difference in the front I don't spot any major change

I think they should just launch the 8th Gen civic with higher GC. That will fly off the shelves and potentially beat the Corolla, Octavia, Elantra put together.

The external design of the new Civic is top class. Its the interiors that I didn't find as appealing and much of a bump as compared to the 8th Gen. In fact, the lack of a flat floor at the back is actually a step back.

The facelift seems minor but what I'd like to see is a Petrol Manual. The diesel Auto is missed too but I'm sure there are a lot of buyers who loved the 8th gen's free revving engine and would have loved to see the same in the newer iteration.

I really wonder who gives advice to this company. Short of calling them expletives, I just don't know what else to do. I guess the sales chart will show the appropriate finger soon which then Honda will conveniently point to how low-class Indian customers are.

All this could change if they launch Civic with the 1.5 liter turbo Petrol. Even with that engines' base tune of 174HP, it would be a game changer. (They do have one with 200+ HP from the same engine)

In all fairness, the Civic is doing pretty well in its segment. It's got the highest sales amongst the competition and it's october sales are on the upswing, mainly due to the heavy discounts, which somewhat rationalised the price. Let's see if the momentum continues.
