Ouch ! That front grill - headlight combo

Overall, the car looks nice except the wheels.

I knew that I had seen this grille somewhere:The 4th-gen Skoda Octavia. EDIT: India launch pushed to 2021-24c44500566c4809b88e08dcdbf5e2a8.jpeg

Is the rear (boot) too rounded? Seems to look like Dzire and Ciaz. Hopefully this is just in pictures. Loved Octavia's simple cuts and angles.

That grill!! when Maserati met Skoda.

Will reserve further judgement till I see this in person. Any information on what engine options India is likely to get?

Is it only me or someone else to thinks that the hood is somewhat similar to the Honda Civic:uncontrol

On another note, I hope this one grows on all of us who have not liked it much just like the facelift version of previous generation.

I like all the dimensions of the car, except for that front grill and headlight combo. Just looks really off. In my opinion, the 2013 version looked best.

Evolutionary design which reminds a lot of Superb (not that it's a bad thing). Should remain the best car in what is a dying segment in India (with reports that the next gen corolla might not even make it to India)!

I think the front will definitely take some getting used to. The latest generation looks "angrier" than the previous one. The rear looks good. The side profile of the sedan is also good looking, but I think the side profile of the Combi looks a bit bulky towards the rear - not much changed there from the previous generation. The interiors may take even longer to get used to. I think the absence of DSG lever makes it easier to access the phone storage area, but the lever does not make it too inconvenient anyway based on my experience in the Octavia and Karoq. If they had moved the gear selector to the steering column like in Mercedes, then it would have made more sense. The rotary switch for headlight/fog light control seems to have been replaced by separate switches like in the new Golf. I think I've already used to the 2-spoke steering wheel - it doesn't even register now when I look at the pictures.

I am excited to try out and experience the predictive ACC feature. Most of all, I am happy to see that PHEV option is offered. I hope the PHEV options will be offered on all trim levels (like in the Superb) instead of making it a separate variant itself (like the Passat GTE). If I am not mistaken, one of the earlier articles on the latest Octavia had mentioned that variants having more than 150HP will be equipped with multi-link rear suspension. That would make the PHEV variants even more attractive.

Car Wow preview is out, looks like it's going to have a long list of features, engine choices & DCC!

Looks absolutely brilliant. IMO, the Skoda design team has nailed it. And a lot of technology too including Matrix headlights, Wireless Carplay etc.

The alloy wheels are very similar to the ones present on the ciaz, but with best in class ergonomics and very classy aesthetics it will be the best in the segment.

I may be in the minority, but I really like the look of this new Octavia. The front end looks particularly menacing, and I wouldn't want to catch this looming large in my rear view mirror.

Chances are, though, that I won't, if I'm driving my Octavia 1.8 TSI, (:D) because this new car's mild-hybrid 1.5 TSI is a bit if a dampener.

Nevertheless, I'm sure it will be a great product. And with Skoda's new management, things are looking up for the brand.

What I'll be waiting for is the vRS: 250 horsepower and 350 nm of torque with adjustable dampers and big brakes will make for one helluva machine!

This is what I feel like right now. Good improvements but who would buy an Octavia for the interiors? I used to plan for 1.8 TSI as my next upgrade but thanks Skoda for saving me money :D
