Skoda Kamiq spotted in India

If we get 1.5 tsi, even if only in top trim, that would be amazing. Also, starting price should be between 11-13lacs to make some sense. This will surely command premium over existing offerings from other manufacturers. It's a long wait though.

I think it's going to cost as much as the Compass, that's the ballpark of Yeti prices. This is a Golf based SUV and it's going to be expensive, certainly not Creta/Seltos territory.

This would be near to the Creta seltos.They would price it at a premium for sure.The Karoq would be priced near to the compass.Karoq is the yeti's replacement worldwide.

T ROC in later part of 2020 and Kamiq based SUV in early 2021.

Its a looker from all angles. In line with the simple design German models from the VW stable.
If only it was introduced by some other Indian manufacturer, it would have sold. Considering Skoda's reputation, I doubt it will make much inroads into a segment dominated by Hyundai and the latest entrants-MG and KIA.
But seriously, whats is with their naming convention? Kodiak, Kamiq (which sounds like Comic) Karoq?
We had earlier models which were closer to some hindi euphemism (Laura), Fabia etc. Really??
Thankfully Lauretta was renamed to a more respectable Rapid.

Skoda's Vision IN to likely to be christened KOSMIQ

Skoda Kosmiq mid-size SUV will compete against Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta and it will go on sale in early 2021.

Good to see Skoda planning to enter this segment. Skoda,VW & Ford have missed it for long time, a segment which has been ruled by Creta & now Seltos. People would be ready to pay the premium if they provide good safety features. Build quality from these manufacturers is always top notch!
Eagerly waiting for this launch.

Is there any car planned by VW & Ford in this segment? Haven’t heard anything from them.

VW is expected to launch Taigun in the same segment next year. It will probably be powered by the same engine at least in the top spec trim.

Volkswagen is developing its own version of the Kosmiq called the Taigun, And Ford is co-developing a rival for this segment with the help of Mahindra. Even TATA has the 'Blackbird' rumoured to be under development.

Make no mistake - this segment will be hotly contested in the future. Creta and now Seltos have truly shown how fat profits and numbers are possible in this segment. Quite a sweet spot in the market.
