This seems wrong. Our own Team bhp review states that Venue is built on the k1 platform which came with the Santro. I guess it might be a modified version of the same platform but I don't think Hyundai would have modified it for safety. They are not known for that in India.
Please let us know your source for this information.

I feel you have some misconception about the Venue being based on the Santro platform & the upcoming Kia model with a different platform.
Let me clarify
1) Venue is based on the i20 platform in India as well
2) The other vehicle coming from the sister brand (Kia) will also carry the same platform [for economies of scale ] |
This is not a misconception, sir. This has been discussed at length in the Hyundai Venue official review thread as well as the Australian Venue’s ANCAP result thread. The Venue which we get is based on the Santro platform, while the international Venue is based on the i20 platform.

Looks very upmarket and better than Venue, in my opinion. Doesn't look as big as the Ecosport or the Nexon, more like the Freestyle. Do we have any information on the dimensions of the vehicle?
PS: If this gets the 1.5 Diesel in the same tune as Seltos it will be a hoot to drive.

Same opinion here! :)
Also, even the Venue looks smaller compared to its competition - and this looks similar.
I'm not sure of the rear end design though! Need clearer pictures.

From some previous posts on Team Bhp, my understanding is that it will get the same 1.5 block but without the VGT. Performance will not be the same. It will definitely be less than Mahindra 1.5 D.

Indeed looks smaller when compared to Vitara Brezza or the XUV300.
Here is the rear end design pic!

Here are a few screengrabs of the rear from Overdrive's video.

I thought so, too. But, personally I am a sucker for a good shape than size. Flat hood, flat roof-line and straight window line give it a shrunk-SUV look. This one looks smashing. Will fly off showrooms just like its big brother Seltos. Got to admit, Hyundai cars are no match for Kia, as far as looks go. The pupil has outdone the master.
The only thing I dislike are the massive wheels. Look disproportionate and kind of after market-y. Otherwise, will kill Venue and give a massive headache to Brezza*.
*Pricing dependent, of course

This is just the concept prototype. The production variant's wheel will be nothing like this. It will be similar to what Venue or any other car in its segment.
So based on my assessment of dying Hyundai and promising Kia it's now safe to say Kia is the new Hyundai (just like how we said Hyundai is the new Honda when Hyundai set the roads on fire with their awesome looking cars which where also feature loaded)
Looks smashing, even though the rear looks a bit overdone with that connecting taillight strip giving it that Chinese car looks. But much better back than the Venue which looks just like a hatchback from the rear.
