The Telluride (in its AWD form as sold in some markets) could certainly give the Fortuner a ride for its money, assuming Kia breaks the gold-plated market standing of Toyota in India.

But in FWD form both the Telluride & the Carnival would be at a disadvantage, since both the Crysta and the Fortuner come in RWD form as standard and this feature adds a good deal to the durability/abuse-friendliness of both the Toyota products. All other pretenders to the throne (Renault Lodgy, Mahindra Marazzo, Ford Endeavour, Isuzu MU7, etc..) have bitten the dust so far.

This is awesome news. The only thing more awesome would be if Kia were to decide to bring these cars to India, especially the Stinger cause I have loved that car from the moment I laid eyes on it. If they do bring the Stinger to India, I might be one of the first to book it (have already told the wife :)).

Let's hope this happens and they offer a competitive price. I know the Germans will still hold snob value but if they undercut the Germans, they will have a good market for it.

I am absolutely smitten by Telluride. Looks amazing and has presence. The Palisade pales in comparison. With [rumored] Ford exiting India, this will be the right moment. (I am in no ways comparing the off road prowess).

Kia Planning to bring 5 New Cars In India – Carnival, Soul EV, Sorento, Telluride & Stinger

Kia has pushed these five models that it sells abroad for a feasibility study in the Indian market. All of these models will reportedly come to our shores via the CKD route and will be assembled at its facility in Anantpur, Andhra Pradesh.

Soul EV
Stinger
Sorento
Telluride
Carnival MPV
Looking forward to the EV being launched in India. The space is heating up and that's where all the competition is going to be in the near future.

Saw Kia Carnival in KL, Malaysia. This will be a wonderful replacement for sad looking Toyota Innova on our Indian roads if priced well. Has lot of presence and snob ! There was one more which looked similar but was even more stylish MPV- Toyota Vellfire. Have a look at it. And compare with Kia below.

Toyota - Are you listening! India needs cars like these!!

Toyota has already initiated a limited launch of Vellfire in India. Starts at 80 lacs.

Kia launching Sorento & Telluride in India would be a great decision to gain market share in a SUV craze nation. Even with a higher asking price, i believe they would sell good volume and gain a lot of foot traffic into their showrooms.

I am skeptical about Stinger. Even though its a great vehicle for an enthusiast, i wonder if it would be a good seller for its asking price.

Carwale reports that Hyundai & Kia are considering bringing the Palisade, new-gen Sonata & Telluride to India. Would be great if they are launched in our country clap:

Both the companies are also considering to introduce the Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride in India, to take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. However, both these vehicles are specific to the US market and it will take some time to develop an RHD version. And besides these two full-size SUVs, Hyundai is also gauging market response to reintroduce the Sonata in India, especially after its radical makeover earlier this year.

That's a gorgeous design! Wonder what's the technical limitation (if any) behind not providing flat-bottomed steering wheels?

The side profile looks a lot like the current generation of Acura MDX which is almost 6 years old. The Front fascia is impressive though.

Bring it on, Kia! I’m sure whatever you launch, Indians will just buy it because you know what to give us, isn’t it? Perhaps, a deep market study & a well rounded homework is what has got you good success here. I’m looking at a better version of history of Maruti that will repeat with you i.e. you introduce your new cars, without a doubt you’ll have a fan following for it! But, the difference is that, you’re more premium, safety and feature focused. Keep it going!

In the given circumstances, Kia 's committed plan of launching a new car every 6 months may be put to back burner for the time being. It's indeed a jinx of sorts for a company who came all guns blazing. A sad state of affairs for Kia ( and industry in general ) who had infused some life to an industry which has been under the weather for some time. Hope Kia and other manufacturers would hit the road soon.

With production and supply chain hit badly owing to the unprecedented lockdown, their immediate focus would be to restart operations and honour commitments of the existing bookings.
