Re: The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62

Has Honda stopped offering front parking sensors as an OEM accessory from the showroom? My 2021 City's front parking sensors were installed by the showroom [Capital Honda Chennai].

Planning to buy a Honda city Hybrid now and dealer is refusing to install OEM front parking sensors. Dealer claims its not in company policy to install front parking sensors. [Dealers - Whitefield Honda, Dakshin Honda Bangalore]

This item seems to have disappeared from the accessory brochure as well. [attached]

Whats the recommended way to install front parking sensors now?

Lsjey

The Honda OEM front parking sensors are the worst accessories you can buy. I'd ask you to refrain from them. They are super sensitive and will keep beeping if someone came near in a crowded street, or a signal. They need to be switched off every time you restart the car. These were so much irritating that while Honda ASC changed the front bumper and they mentioned that they won't be able to move the front parking sensors to the new bumper - I was relieved.

So far, I'm pretty satisfied with the OEM parking sensors from Honda.
Do you have any better recommendations?

I'd say skip the parking sensors for front. I got them installed and that judgement was due to me being prudent, thinking it's a long car and I would probably need those parking sensors up front as well.

Turns out I don't, it was super easy to get used to the size of car, and the front bonnet length. Never scraped the front due to a judgement errors (touch wood). As I said earlier, I was more than relieved when the parking sensors weren't installed post bumper replacement (Bumper replacement was done due to damage from driving in stagnant rain water).

I have no experience in the accessories - may be other members from forum can enlighten. My car has just floormats, door protectors, door sill illuminated honda logo and dashcam as installed accessories.

Bringing home the 5th Gen City ZX CVT

Hello Everyone,
This is my first post on Team BHP about my first car. Diving straight to the purchase process, here goes my experience –
Why new vehicle –
I am your regular 9-5 service class individual working in Mumbai. To be honest, I do not NEED a car. But this decision came out of a WANT. A “want” to own my car before I turn 30. This plus the oncoming wrath of electric vehicles made me push through the decision of owning one.
Requirements –
• Has to be a sedan. PERIOD!
• Automatic
• Petrol
• Reliability. Fill it, shut it, Forget it.

Cars Considered –
The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62-d6164bce094342c9ad1def6c213b75b8.jpeg

To be honest, I considered only two sedans, Virtus & City. I was more inclined to Virtus since our family owns 4th Gen City I-vtec Manual. Hence, I wanted to go for a change. Change in ownership experience, driving and even as basic as plain ergonomics

Virtus: The car looks elegant & sophisticated. Grabs no unnecessary attention. When I visited the showroom I could make out the differences in the plastic quality since my brother owns a Vento. However, I am not complaining about this. The look and feel of the car is fresh, is spacious and I found this very engaging to drive. I was clear that if I own this vehicle, it has to be the GT variant. I waited for a month and test drove the manual variant. Honestly, I cannot forget the kickback when I pushed open the throttle. It has got that personality of transforming its good boy image into a MMA fighter if required.
The question now is, if I like the Virtus GT so much why didn’t I go for this vehicle?
Reliability and Automatic Gearbox concerns. I might have been overthinking during my purchase but I wanted a car with bullet proof reliability. Virtus might be that car for VW but it still got to prove this over a period of time. The next obvious choice for me was the City 5th Gen
City: I would not be drawing comparisons between 4th & 5th Gen. Both are brilliant in their own way. Both belong to the same brand and both has got its own bunch of lovers. Do I like the 5th Gen? Well, YES!
After having owned the 4th gen (family) for over 8 years, I still couldn’t find a better all-rounder sedan than the city even today. Reliable, comfortable and a proven product. So, the head wins over the heart and here comes home my daily drive – Honda City ZX CVT

Purchase Experience – I wanted to make the first trip of my vehicle to Jagannath Puri Temple. Hence, I decided to purchase the vehicle from Central Honda from Bhubaneshwar. The team coordinated perfectly and the delivery happened as promised. We also got a good deal on the purchase. I took the delivery of the car in the month of May-24, and as said before the first visit of the car happened to Jagannath Puri Temple
Experience so far –
It’s been around 4 months and I have driven the car for around 8000 kms. This includes two road trips, the details of which I shall be mentioning about in the next post
Soon after my purchase, I took two road trips. One from Puri to Mumbai and another from Mumbai to Dwarka and back.
Overall the experience has been superb till date. I am happy with my purchase and look forward to road trips and driving safe.

Re: The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62

Has anyone found a way around for accepting the infotainment system's welcome screen disclaimer every time the car starts? It is annoying to press 'OK' every time the car is restarted.

Also, if anyone has any link or PDF of the operating manual of the infotainment system, please post here or direct me to the link. Wanted to check if the infotainment system welcome image supports GIF or not. Anyone experimented with changing the wall papers and the welcome screen image?

Thanks.

Here are some quick points I had saved earlier regarding wallpaper:
Screen-Resolution: 800 x 400 pixels
Filename must be < 64 char
Must be in root-folder
The individual file size limit is 2 MB
The maximum image size is 1,920 x 936 pixels

(I had experimented with changing the wallpaper years ago)

Yes, they have stopped offering the front parking sensors. I wanted to get them fixed on my 2022 city and had checked with two dealers and both confirmed that it has been stopped.

Welcome to the forum! Congratulations on your new purchase and wish you many happy miles! I too have a 5th generation ZX CVT and it is such a fuss free car. All it needs is scheduled maintenance and the car just performs without any tantrums. Such a comfortable car!

Thanks.
No, it is like death and taxes in life - a certainty. It is so annoying that it just stays there on the screen like an unwanted guest. It is very frustrating that even the music doesn’t start unless we click OK

Re: The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62

I have booked a Honda City ZX MT in Bangalore, and the dealer is offering a discount of around ₹90,000 along with a few basic accessories at no extra cost. I’m also exchanging my 15-year-old hatchback, which has been maintained in pristine condition. However, this ₹90,000 discount does not include the exchange bonus, and I’m unsure whether the discounts offered are competitive. I don’t know the detailed breakdown, such as whether any discount on insurance was provided.
A few days ago, a friend called and asked if I had negotiated the insurance discount separately, which I didn’t. The purpose of this post is to get your thoughts on whether the discount I’ve been offered is reasonable or if there’s room for further negotiation. Thanks.

Ask the dealer for the break-up of the discounts. There should be cash, corporate, exchange bonus, loyalty discounts. These are officially from Honda. Insurance discount and dealer discount of something that dealer gives on top of the Honda discounts. Per Honda’s website, City has a discount of up to ₹1,14,000. So please ask the breakup of the ₹90,000 discount being offered. Exchange bonus should be a separate discount from the used car’s valuation.

Thanks, Dhananjay. In another thread, I saw you mentioning that you received an approximate ₹3 lakh discount on the ex-showroom price of a Honda City – that sounds like an incredible amount! I’m curious, how did you manage to secure such a deal?

The salesperson shared Honda's guidance document for September offers, and unfortunately, I’m not eligible for either loyalty or corporate discounts, as my company isn’t included in their corporate discount program, nor am I in an eligible sector. After seeing your message and reviewing the document conscientiously, it seems the dealer is offering around ₹70000 in additional discounts on top of what Honda provides. I will definitely ask for a detailed breakdown. They’ve also offered a fair price for my old car along with an exchange bonus.
I’ve visited a few other Honda dealers in Bangalore, but their responses and discounts have been quite underwhelming.

Well, I got a previous year model. Had gone to book the car last year but they had one ZX CVT in stock. ADAS wasn’t much of an attraction to me and apart from this, there were very minor changes between the 2 models. This one car was a bit of a burden on the dealer as someone had cancelled it and it was just lying in their stockyard (which thankfully was covered). I bargained hard and got a great deal.

Re: The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62

Has anyone who bought the City recently installed the dashcam they sell as their 'official' accessory? The brand is Inaxes which is super-capacitor based and supports dual-channel recording. What has been the usage experience if you've it in your car?

I asked about 360-deg camera and was told they cannot install it on the City e-Hev. On asking about replacing the lane-watch camera, I was told the head-unit does not support higher resolution camera which I will need to double-check elsewhere.
