re: The Toyota Yaris dual-tone edition, now launched at Rs. 8.65 lakhs

So Toyota is thinking that the Indian consumer can be convinced ( or should I say fooled) to buy a Yaris by giving it a dual tone? They have removed the abominable arm rest, so what?? It should not have been at the first place itself.

This made me remember the BCG 2 X 2 Matrix we studied during our MBA days. The BCG 2 x 2 matrix has the Product's Market Share in the X Axis and the Market Growth on the Y Axis. The product under consideration is then mapped in this matrix and categorized as either a Star (High relative Growth and High Market Share), A Dog ( No Growth, No Market Share), a Cash Cow (High Market Share, Low Growth), Or a Question Mark ( High Growth, Low Market Share)
(Please refer the attachment for better understanding)

I think all the products they have are either Cash Cows or Dogs !! And Yaris is the biggest dog of them all !

Now that Toyota has a tie up with Suzuki, rebadging the Yaris as a Maruthi Suzuki will atleast help them in selling some numbers 😁.

Frankly much of the criticism is unwarranted except the lack of headroom at the rear and to an extent the looks (esp of the City!). At the same time, all the posters completely miss the class leading 7 airbags in every model and the rear-AC and excellent NVH. That's why i bought it, and I don't mind my purchase one bit. Mind you, my other car is an Aspire DCT, so I experience a real pocket rocket every second day.

Guess we see what we wish to see or what our biases are, no?

But yes - this is the worst idea. They should publicly accept what is the worst kept secret in the Indian auto industry - rationalize prices and revitalize it. This is pointless.
Agree totally .

Decent car (for what it offers, though we could do with some more ) .

Unrealistic pricing (again, for what it offers )

Cheers !

No doubt yaris is an amazing product and that too from amazingly reliable Toyota. The issue is not with the car or not with OEM for the poor sales. It is the c2 sedan segment which is already squeezed due to SUV popularity and no room for growth unless priced at C1 sedan which is not possible.

The dual tone at any means does not add value to the car.

Very good thought, not good so for ciaz. But Maruti could place it just next to ciaz with some variants overlap to give the Maruti badge to much deserved Yaris.

Re: The Toyota Yaris dual-tone edition, now launched at Rs. 8.65 lakhs

They claimed to have worked on the rear seat. What's the difference? I feel the Yaris just doesn't have the inner seat width to be compared with the City or Ciaz. It's impossible to seat 3. That's a deal breaker for most when they need a 5 seater as a bare minimum. Infact even the city just about does that. How can Toyota rectify this? This is soon going to go the fleet way before Toyota slaps the big T onto the Ciaz and adds to their market share.

TKM can use Maruti like an FNG and have them fit it into the Yaris.
Make use of the low cost design n engineering.

Re: The Toyota Yaris dual-tone edition, now launched at Rs. 8.65 lakhs

Been looking for a new car ever since my family grew. Checked out the City, Verna and Yaris. The City did not appeal due to very cheap looking interiors and a noisy ride on a petrol version ( I am partly deaf, so the noise levels had to be really high if I had to hear it). The odo was at 3.5k. I thought it was a diesel version but no. Checked out the new civic after that which was closer to the Yaris in build than the City.
Yaris CVT is boring but the manual is pretty ok. Verna was lovely too, but the car I tested had the seat height advisement lever broken. This at an odo of 7000 or so. Wonder what else could break in it.
Yaris salesman has been pretty persistent without being annoying.
I am yet to make a call but I am leaning towards the Yaris.

Oh, that's a really bad one from Toyota. Wonder why their global competitiveness is not applied on a simple matter as this. Or is the part designed to cover something underneath that could not be avoided for some reason? Can't really understand
