Re: Ford recalls Freestyle, Figo & Aspire for wiring harness issue Called up the service center here in Delhi-Harpreet Ford-Okhla. They immediately gave an appointment of 21st July to bring the car. The issue is a very small one and nothing to worry about. Actually there is a wire which connect the BMS-Battery Monitoring system to the ECU. This wire is routed very close to the positive terminal of the battery. Ford suspects that due to the engine heat, there is a possibility that this may get melted and eventually will short circuit resulting in bigger consequence. The way out is very simple. They will apply insulating tape made of cloth over the wires and will re-route them over the battery plate. The wire length is hardly 10 centimeters. It is hardly a 5 minutes job. As per me, this is something that is not a threat at all. There is a tape over wire which already exists. My car was the first one which reported for this issue at the service center.
All said and done, i am very happy that a company like ford takes a note of such small issues. Previously also the company has taken care of issues such as fuel smell inside the cabin and rear parcel tray replacement free of cost. To compensate the inconvenience caused to the customers, they are offering free wash, interior cleaning, polishing the exteriors, air filter cleaning, coolant top-up etc. Am sure that no other company especially the market leaders would not care a bit about the customers. If i have offended any loyalists of the leaders, check out the standard warranty offered on their cars. |
