A total of 22,690 SUVs are said to be affected by this recall. The affected cars were built at Ford's Chennai plant between February 2004 and September 2014.

The carmaker has said that customers will be informed and requested to bring their cars to Ford dealerships for inspection.

Re: Ford Endeavour recalled to inspect airbag inflators

I believe these were also made by the notorious Takata. Must appreciate companies that issue recalls for cars as old as 15 years . The only challenge will be to bring them in as they'd be onto their 3rd or 4th owners by now (if at all the 2004 cars are still running).

Ford announced another recall on the same date - full details shared by BHPian su1978 here (Ford recalls Freestyle, Figo & Aspire for wiring harness issue).

Re: Ford Endeavour recalled to inspect airbag inflators

As per Express Drives, the current-gen Endeavour has also been recalled but for BMS wiring issue seen on cars manufactured in Sanand facility. But IIRC the current-gen Endeavour is manufactured at Ford's Chennai plant.

Here's what their article says;
Quote:
Additionally, Ford has also stated that it is recalling around 30,000 units of the current generation of the Endeavour. The models are specifically the ones which were assembled at the manufacturer’s Sanand plant between September 2017 and April 2019. The vehicles are said to have their battery monitoring system (BMS) wiring harnesses installation and replaced if found faulty.
