Pallavi Singh, marketing head of MG Motors India joins BMW

Pallavi Singh, marketing head of MG Motors India joins BMW-97975pallavimain.jpg

Pallavi Singh, who was instrumental in creating the marketing buzz for MG and mainly the Hector has joined BMW.

Previously, she has worked with Harley Davidson and Yamaha. She was with MG for 2 years and was key stakeholder in formulating marketing pieces including social and traditional media strategy.

It will be interesting to see how MG manages the marketing buzz going forward.

A Big loss for MG.

I have interacted with her a couple of times and was very impressed with her. However, her success at MG was a lot to do with the freedom and high level of delegation afforded to her. I do hope BMW gives her the same autonomy.

Something to do with the new Boss from RE? in which case, she should be ok. It's not uncommon for senior guys to build their own team.

I was unaware of this lady till GTO shared her interview on the Hector page. Liked it immensely. Then I looked up a few more of her interviews and thought she brought in a refreshing change from the usual dumb/guarded/uninformed answers the top guys dish out. I'm sure she will bring about a sea change in BMW India.

In my Opinion, its the PRODUCT that is King. Get it right and everything else falls into place, including Advertisement, Promotion & Marketing.

You have to ensure that there is a product that people "Want" to buy.

Classic example if the RE "Classic 350".

Regardless of the Hype behind the Hector, its the product that would take everything forward. Same goes for any other launch

Unfortunately the same does not work with TATA or Ford. Marketing is extremely important. Maruti Suzuki have marketed as low cost of ownership and that has stuck with the masses despite they dishing out mediocre products. Hyundai for features and Toyota for realiablity. All this is owing to good marketing. Honda or Suzuki is no less reliable than Toyota.
The luxury badge works mainly on marketing than the core product values

I don't really think so.

It was the Redesigned / Sexy looking Mercedes that has led to their turnaround in India.... suddenly everyone was interested to buy a brand that was starting to be considered as staid and boring (Uncle Type).. just 5 years back (till 2014).

Lets take example of other Toyota's apart from the INNOVA and FORTUNER.. Aren't they RELIABLE? Why don't they sell?

With Tata it was the TAXI Image (thanks to its Product the Indica), now with products like the Tiago, Nexon and Harrier.. I can see things changing.

It's the PRODUCT(s) that Builds a Brand and not the Other way round.

As someone who has missed the other posts it would be helpful if you could share the links to the mentioned videos

Re: Pallavi Singh, marketing head of MG Motors India joins BMW

An extremely talented gal who really put MG India on the map. As I'd posted on the other thread, everyone knows about the Hector. She got the marketing & brand awareness spot on. She also succeeded in keeping the "Chinese car" baggage away from MG.

This is definitely MG's loss & BMW's gain. My guess = it was the money & BMW brand that lured her away.
