The Bangladesh Army will get an Indian touch as one of the world's leading automobile brands, Tata Motors on Monday announced that it has won an order for supplying over 200 units of the Tata Hexa four-wheel drive SUV in Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh Army will get an Indian touch as one of the world's leading automobile brands, Tata Motors on Monday announced that it has won an order for supplying over 200 units of the Tata Hexa four-wheel drive SUV in Bangladesh. The company said that it has won this prestigious order from Bangladesh Army after rigorous testing of the product for months. In a statement released on Monday, Tata Motors said that Hexa stood strong to meet all the requirements and specifications of the Bangladesh Army.

"This order has been won against the other competitive brand SUVs and this has been the first key order from the Bangladesh Army. The superior performance of the Tata Hexa, better comfort features and widely available service and spares in Bangladesh made it the most preferred brand for the army," the statement read.

"Bangladesh is a key market for us and this order is a clear sign of Tata Motors’ commitment and growing success in the market. We are exploring multiple avenues to work closely with the Bangladesh armed forces and look forward to a long and rewarding partnership for both parties," Sujan Roy – Head – International Business, Passenger Vehicles, Tata Motors said about this order.

Tata Motors had entered Bangladesh in 2012 with its passengers vehicles. It is currently amongst the top two best-selling passenger vehicle brands in Bangladesh with the Tata Indigo, Tata Tiago and Tata Nexon in its portfolio of offerings. The Tata Hexa is being made available exclusively for the use of the Armed Forces and is currently not available for purchase for private customers.

Tata Hexa features
The Tata Hexa comes with a 2.2-litre VARICOR diesel engine which makes a maximum power of 156PS with 400Nm of torque on tap. The Hexa has an ARAI-tested fuel efficiency figure of 17.6kmpl. It is available with features like drive modes, projector headlamps, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, automatic headlamps, LED DRLs, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers and mood lighting too.

The Hexa comes with six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with roll-over mitigation, Traction Control System, Hill Descent Control (HDC), Hill Hold Control (HHC) and ABS with EBD.
This is good news and should put to rest the rumours about Hexa being discontinued. I don't think Tata will get into a deal with Bangladesh Army and then stop production of the vehicle!

Tata might produce or "push" the Hexa in markets where a BS6 engine is not required. Which will be a good thing as there wont be shortage of parts etc for existing India customers.

I think HEXA is one of the finest creation by Tata and I wish to buy it one day. I hope it stays relevant for at least 8 years in the market. Sadly, Indian market does not appreciate projects like these.
