Re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

The Autocar article refers to an expected 35-38 lakh ex-showroom sticker price. That would be seriously disappointing - even though I realize Jeep can try to justify it in the name of larger dimensions, some additional bling, Fortuner competitor blah-blah

IMHO, price should be 1.5 to 2 lakh max over a comparable Compass - for it to do Compass-like or slightly better volumes - else, is only for a very niche audience

Re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

Not sure if my observation is correct, but has Jeep reduced the height of the second row seats ( just like the Alcazar and the Carens )? I understand there are headrests, but the lower seat height can compromise on shoulder comfort. Again, not really sure if Jeep has done it only in the Meridian, but it’s quite noticeable here unlike the Compass.

Re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

No headrest + only a lap belt for the centre passenger in the 2nd row is a big miss for a premium 7 seater SUV!

Re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

Omitting adjustable headrest for the Indian versions for the 2nd row mid passenger is becoming an unfortunate trend and glaring safety issue in almost all recently released MUVs/SUVs (Eg: XUV700, Carens, Alcazar, and now Meridian).

Toyota has set a good safety example to provide mid seat headrest in their Innova and Fortuner.

Hopefully as you said, it will have taller sidewall. A family member is looking for bigger car and does'nt like the firm ride in Compass. Have to wait for reviews on Meridian's ride quality. Thanks for the input.
Its mentioned just below the LE in Dueler. I can make out the 235, but not able to read what is written post that.

The second pic in that set - Meridian climbing a staircase :

How clever has been Jeep to choose a set of stairs whose step lengths are tiny vertically and large horizontally ? can they do this with a regular foot-staircase that has roughly similarly sized vertical and horizontal lengths, but which is inclined to the ground at the same angle as in the picture ? Marketing depts of companies probably think us general public are idiots and will be fooled by a cleverly setup picture.

The Brazilian commander video has closer shot of the steps, Indian track seems to have shallow steps. But still good enough for me, coming from humble BRV

Agree with you there.

But one thing to remember is that the AVERAGE CONSUMER, even for premium cars is not an enthusiast. The average BHPian IS an enthusiast So you have noticed that bit of detail, but a majority will not.

To a majority of those buying this car, that message will go out exactly as intended by the marketing campaign, “The Meridian can climb up stairs”.

Slightly off-topic but, why is the Compass in camo I wonder... is there a new variant or a further referesh of the Jeep Compass being launched?

This is true for most, if not all, european/american cars. You have headlamp stalk on left and wiper stalk on right. For me, it’s really convenient as i have driven mostly euro/american vehicles but even if that’s not the case, you’ll get adjusted to it in a while.

A Dealer in Ahmedabad has already started the booking by taking ₹ 1,00,000/- as a refundable amount.
A friend got it booked in the 1st week of April

Isn't 1L too high for booking car in this segment? It's not a luxury brand we are talking about. 50K should be max in my opinion unless dealer is taking advantage here.

Re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

There doesn't seem to be any radar module on the front and the steering cruise controls too don't seem to have shortcuts to set follow distance. I guess there's a good chance it will not have any ADAS features in India.

Great looking car especially from the rear. Btw, does it have ventilated seats?
