Have gone through virtually every Brazilian Commander 2021 videos that I could find on google.

When all three rows are occupied, the middle row passengers can slide their seat a bit forward and still have adequate leg room for themselves.
The third row will offer better leg room even for adults due to the forward sliding second row.
Also the 3rd row seat back rest is quite tall and looks comfortable.

Also I liked the fact that the middle passenger in the second row gets a proper adjustable headrest as well as a 3 point seatbelt.

Agree with your comments - the thing is the third row is set very low - almost on the floor (a lot like the Hector plus), so from a practicality standpoint - while you may have legroom, your knees will likely be always pointing skywards as an adult

Re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

Sharing unverified information. Sadly Jeep is yet to share anything officially.
Meridian may have engine PS and Torque bumped up slightly as compared to the compass.

Will stop sharing unverified information if that is the rule. Mod please advise.

Could you share the link for the post as well in addition to the screenshot. As a prospective buyer, I’ll be delighted if this is indeed true. But all recent media updates seem to have indicated otherwise - that it’ll just be the Compass engine only, perhaps with some slightly different tuning to the engine.

I am fairly sceptical of expecting a 200 bhp engine at this stage - not sure if that screenshot is an outdated post from a time when several auto mags were predicting it might have a bumped up power output.

Re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

The Meridian absolutely looks beautiful and seems like a great bet in the SUB 50L Market and somewhere I've always seen my father being adamant about not buying the Fortuner. The Meridian will be a combination of both - Comfort and Robustness!

Re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

Jeep India has sent out the appended message via official WhatsApp.

Confirming my booking status, and allocating some random variant (which I didn't specify to Landmark while making pre-booking).

I was told by the SA that there is a Meridian training happening right now at Lonavala.

Spoke to the AGM of service in my service Center. Training has started for the staff. They have at least another 6-7 weeks of training to complete. Based on the folks who attended the training, they don’t seem to know if the BHP got bumped up to 200. The AGM himself hasn’t attended the training yet. He indicated a June launch.

Even I got the same whatsapp today. My SA also told me that they will have training soon and car should be in the showroom within 10 days for customers to have a look.

Fingers cross.

Re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

Got the brochure sent to me by the Jeep SA. Some details here provided on the call:
1. Will be a 2.0 Diesel engine with a higher state of tune. Will also have the 9AT
2. Price range would between 43-47 lakh BLR
3. Deliveries to begin in the first week of June.
4. Booking amount is 30k as they don’t have the details yet on all the variants. They have received 35 bookings so far.
5. Same update on going training, more info post training.

I wonder whether he means “different” state of tune. From the graph in the attached pdf, the peak power still shows at approximately 170 bhp.

I’m at a loss to understand why they can’t put at least a sports mode in the gearbox.

Re: India-bound Jeep 7-seater SUV, named Meridian

It’s strange to see so much of confusion on the power figures. Jeep unveiled the product few weeks back - how much difficult it would have been for them to just clearly mention the power figures than comparing power to weight ratio with competitors and those bhp/torque graphs.
Either they believe the power figures are not a highlight of the car in the segment or they are going to surprise us with a higher tuned engine - hope its the latter

I agree with you. I think what he actually means is “different” and not higher.

The PDF clearly shows 170 HP of peak power. Not sure how the engine state of tune is higher, may be different compared to Compass to handle the additional bulk.

From the graph:

Torque - 350 Nm between 1600-3000 rpm vs 1750-2500 rpm in the Jeep Compass.

Power looks the same 170 hp @ 3750 +/- 50 rpm.

They seem to have "differently tuned" the engine for a flatter Torque curve to aid drivability.
