The latest Maruti designs have truly been hideous! Ignis was nothing to write about, s-Presso was as ugly as they come, this one is also a bit of a khichdi so as to speak, and from spy pics, it seems the latest Baleno is also going down that way

However, folks do not seem to mind these design issues. What i think will truly break the Celerio is the pricing. Imagine a top end Celerio at 8.2 lakhs on road? It seems to be 70k higher than what it should be.

Re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

This looks overpriced. Why would anyone prefer a Celerio over a Wagon-R or Ignis? Or even a Tiago or Santro?

Hopefully, the Team BHP official review will help shed light on this.

Re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

Kei cars for city use are welcome. Their small size and nimble handling, made them good for the busy, speed breaker filled roads. Kei cars also were in the affordable price bracket. But this! This is something quite abrupt! A entry level hatch in the higher price bracket!
This goes to show how much the inflation has gone up? A car supposedly in under 5 lakhs price bracket is starting at 5 lakhs! Now that Facelift Baleno is to be launched as well, I'm expecting it to be in the 10 to 12 lakhs price bracket! We may complain but this has come to reality. Hopefully salaries too are revised soon. But with us recovering from the health crisis, preventing a major economic breakdown would be a huge task for the government

Re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

There is nothing new to tell about the latest Maruti design of Celerio. Fail to understand which dumb design team designed it though choice is subjective. Atleast they should take inspiration from fellow automakers Tata, Hyundai, Kia, Mahindra to name a few. They seriously need half a dozen of Pratap Bose to design & get out from this type of boring design. Only good about upcoming Celerio is mileage which they will highlight in upcoming advertisement. Maruti doesn't believe in safety.

Looks like the Celerio is gunning squarely for the Tiago going by the pricing and variants. Both cars are designed using different philosophies on what they think the customer wants. Would be interesting to look at who comes on top. With the Ignis, Celerio and Wagon R Maruti has multiple offering to cover varied customer tastes in this segment.

Drive on,

Re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

Gulp! Seems I am THE only one who has booked the new Celerio red AMT top end (30,000 INR for a solid confirmation booking). Main attraction for me was hill hold, black interior and the red colour. Already have 2 s pressos, so thought of getting this one for a change.

Yes ,it costs a solid 2 lakhs more than the top end s presso. Yes,it looks like a melted jellybean, yes it's flimsy, but hey I may be crazy.

Will keep you updated once confirmed allotment comes in!

When I would ride my street triple, people would ogle with astonishment when I told them that this bike cost close to 10 lakhs.

Top end celerio owners would identify with this sentiment in future.

Team-BHP official review gives many insights about a product, yet it can't encompass all real usage scenarios. There may be very few real users of this new Celerio on Team-BHP. So, we'll look forward to your valuable feedback as a paying customer.

And, this purchase may make you most sought after guy, atleast on Team-BHP.

Re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

Looking at that thing called Celerio, I felt like we are still living in mid 80s !
When competition offers you products like Punch , Kwid , Tiago and I 10 , you (Suzuki) come with a product designed like this that even my grandparents will feel nostalgic.
Where on earth your designers come from ? What inspiration they look at ? Doesn't it feels like a stretched A Star ( your own flopped product ) ? Come on Suzuki , I need some answers from you , will you eleobarate?

Even after booking the top end S-Presso, I told the SA at Maruti Dealership that I may change my mind and get Celerio if I feel it suffices my needs and is within cost. I knew it would cost more money than S-Presso but when the prices came in, I knew it was not for me and it is a good 2L more than top end S-Presso as you mentioned already.

I hope you have great experience with the car. At the end of day, one should buy a vehicle if it works for them in terms of requirements and budget and not care about what someone else says.

Re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

Here is the official brochure and accessories brochure for the new Celerio.
After going through the brochure I have a new found respect for the brochure designer. I mean just look at the creativity:
1. Plane Jane Drab Design --> 3 D Organic Sculpted Design
2. Hideous Placement and execution of request sensor --> Door Request Switch with Smart Key
3. Super bland and cheap cabin --> Energetic and Spacious Cabin
4. Silver paint on ac knobs, yes that's a feature from VXI onwards along with Urethane Steering wheel.
5. Super cheap and old amber font instrument cluster --> Stereoscopic Instrument cluster.

Name: 20211112_000156.jpg
Views: 366
Size: 55.2 KB

The brochure has so many entries just to make one feel, oh so many features!!
The accessories especially the interior styling kit are expensive.
I just hate this car, except the updated engine.
First Maruti ruined the WagonR and now this one which was not great to begin with.
With new Celerio they have taken the cheapness and cost-cutting to a whole new level which are accentuated by:
1. Cable type knob for headlamp beam levelling like Reanult Kwid
2. Rear power windows in middle of front seats

I bet the front crash bar aka the dog bar is also missing like Alto and new WagonR. In the new WagonR it is a joke. Just found it from YouTube.

2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh-20211112_001407.jpg

The cars are selling but what Maruti is giving is no more VFM and neither safe.
