re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

The Hill Hold feature in AGS is a good addition. Rest of the features and everything else seems OKish for the price that it will sell at.

Can Hill-hold be retro-fitted in the Ignis? There are a few moments in an upward slope traffic situations where I do miss it.

Wow! That's not really a great pricing.

I still believe that the Ignis is well priced for what it offers. Especially the AMT variants.

With that being said, the Celerio looks good in those Red and Blue colors with black alloys.

You can buy an Ignis Delta or the WagonR 1.2 VXI for the price of the Celerio VXI. You can also get the Ignis Zeta, the WagonR 1.2 ZXI or the Grand i10 Magna for the price of the Celerio ZXI. Enough said IMO.

Just realised that the WagonR 1.2L AMT ZXi comes at a lesser price tag than the Celerio ZXi with the 1.0L engine. All the cost cutting only for the profit books of Maruti and I am sure this will follow a price hike in WagonR. This car would only find takers who just walk into the Maruti showroom and ask for the newest car and put their money on it immediately And there could still be some good numbers because of this.

I did not expect that pricing. The top end AMT if I planned to buy will be 8L+ in Mumbai I am sure. I guess I will stick to my booking of top end S-Presso for now.

I just hope they dont stop the Ignis to push this car. I simply don't see how people will spend 8L to buy a 67bhp car.

re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

The hill hold is a much-needed feature for AMTs. I recently rented a Wagon-R with AMT and was struggling with it on slopes. The only way was to engage the handbrake and being a rented car, the handbrake was not in top shape.

I was struggling with the car on forward slopes also when I had to turn and reverse to get into the parking lot. Basic question: does hill hold help on forward slopes when you have to reverse?

Thanks,
Pradeep

re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

I kind of like the pebble like shape of the new Celerio. It's got hints of the Swift. Quite a bit of tech updates to the engine to get the mileage and performance figures - dual valve, VVT, integrated exhaust manifold and even oil grades. Needs to be seen what the real life mileage figures look like.

Even the CO2 figures are a big improvements close to the 45% reduction as commited by India in COP26 which takes 2005 as a base year. This has all the hallmarks of another good performer in terms of sales. I wouldn't be surprised if like the SPresso it's quite enjoyable to drive as well.

Drive on,
Shibu.

For all those comparing with Wagon R, Celerio now comes with start stop tech. Plus, the looks are lot more conventional and should be little bit more stable on highway as it is shorter.
My two cents.

A quick look at how the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio stacks up against its chief rivals, as well as the Wagon R and Celerio, on the price graph.

re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

TBH the pricing doesn't make sense to me, there is close to lakh increase in price when compared with the previous gen Celerio. VXi AMT was around 5.2 L and now it costs 6.1 L? Why?

Santro, WaganR and Tiago easily feels like better choices at this price.

I had purchased an Alto this year as I couldn't stand the looks of one of Maruti's SUV called SPresso. For a moment I thought if I had missed buying this new Celerio. Thanks to Maruti's pricing for making me happy now.

Purely going by the above chart, the Datsun GO CVT is the best possible choice for someone spending close to 8L. You get the best automatic gearbox in a sub 8L car, equal comfort and cabin features, and ESP as well ! Plus you get the best ground clearance amongst them all. I also have a feeling that Datsun may have beefed up the car's build quality (once bitten, twice shy). The car weighs 913 kgs in its CVT avatar.
