This looks like top model. I see fog lamps, Body colored ORVM, Body colored door handles, rear wiper (not sure if defogger is there), alloy wheels.

Camera seems missing which tells me they will be separate accessory (like Spresso).

I may sound old school, but in this particular image, I like the car proportions and looks like reminiscent of Fiat Millecento. If any of Maruti cars get 3 star and more safety rating, they can be called well rounded products with good performance, service, mileage.

re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

The upcoming celerio 2nd gen looks more of an Alto K10 evolution rather than a continuation of Celerio. Especially from the front three quarters and dead front it looks just like the K10. Here I have attached the upcoming Celerio compared to my K10.

The new Celerio reminds me of A-Star, or rather the Nissan UK version of A-Star (albeit with softer edges). Somehow looks lower class in appearance than the last gen Celerio.

re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

Post the Baleno, feels like all new Marutis are being built to the same formula: feather light weight, bulbous and rounded edges without an iota of sharp edges on the outside, and a plastic slab with decades old switches for the interiors, in either Black or Beige, depending upon the mood of the designer. The Ciaz and SCross, and the Ignis to an extend look like the only exception to the rule, and that's because they are older designs.

As someone rightly pointed out, the side side profile does look like the Datsun Go. The car screams Cheap all over!

The only saving grace maybe the excellent K12, if offered, with a smooth and sharp gearbox.

The alloys on the red car look like the ones that were offered on the pre facelift 2nd gen Swift, but Black in color.

I agree. Initially thought it was a bit pudgy, but it's growing on me.
I still dislike the chrome mustache - and safety/build quality are a concern as always.

I hope Maruti has taken atleast a small step forward with regards to that.

Steering wheel skips the new design and reaffirms its place among budget Marutis. The instrument cluster is meh. Looks like it has a proper deadpedal.

Wonder why they put the power window switches on the dash The S-presso at least had the excuse of budget car constraints, with the centrally mounted instrument cluster and all. What is the excuse for the Celerio ?

Hope the storage shelf above the glovebox is useful, unlike the useless crevice in the Ignis.

re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

Going by the interior pictures it seems like this second generation Celerio will be positioned below Wagon R as a 1.0l budget hatchback (what the erstwhile Alto K10 was) rather than above it.

Those who don't want a large vehicle like Wagon R might go for this.

Maruti's design has gone to the dogs. Look at that weirdly placed request sensor on driver door and boot. Why not give a proper pull type handle and integrate everything properly?

Am I wrong or does this new Celerio come with request sensors, push button start, steering audio controls, alloy wheels, rear wash wipe and yet, misses out on ACC and power window control on door pads?

Would to be interesting to hear from the team who designed this car and decided the feature list

True. I really don't mind the flap door handles, but the request sensor position is just Reminds me of the black spot applied to ward off evil eyes.

Atleast could do it ergonomically? Somewhere near the door handle where the thumb comes naturally, instead of positioning it way off. There is going to be ugly scratches/patina in that area after 5+ years of usage.

Would gladly trade those ugly dirt coloured alloys for the above stuff. Considering the WagonR doesn't get alloys.

+1
Did you notice the hazard warning lights switch!? Looks real cheap and it is an eyesore IMO.

re: 2nd-gen Maruti Celerio launched at Rs. 4.99 lakh

As someone who has just yesterday booked his S-presso VXi+ AGS and have told the showroom person that I will still have a look at celerio and "may" change my mind and if I like celerio, may go for that, I think that may not happen.

At least with S-presso and its cost, I knew what to expect but Celerio will definitely be priced higher and from what I see here, everything is like an afterthought.
  • Dashboard does not seem integrated, more akin manufacturers who put the "floating" docks.
  • Request sensor is like someone was playing the game we play in birthdays where one is blindfolded and have to put a bindi on heroin's face.
  • Odd placement of power windows. I am aware my spresso will have that but with Celerio, didn't expect that and the MID is not even in center, it is at regular place.
  • The black dot at back, is that too a sensor or camera, cannot make out.
