Any idea if this is going to be just an unveiling or full launch with the price list? |
Almost no car is launched in the old fashion anymore. Not even irrelevant facelifts with minor changes! :Frustrati
Pretty sure the upcoming event will be an unveil with specifications and variants revealed, along with the opening of pre-bookings to tap into the festive demand.

I believe this is like an un-official booking right? As I spoke to my dealer about a week ago and he didn't reveal any details to me. They are not even taking any bookings as of now. He only mentioned to me that the car is stated to launch around the month end. |
I was told that they got the official go-ahead from Hyundai to accept pre-bookings starting this week. In fact my paperwork was done in the official new car booking form along with a proper invoice.

Hyundai is being very tight-lipped about the i20 for some reason!
I hope it’s the full launch with prices because this new trend of unveiling the car and then announcing prices after a few weeks is something I don’t like! |
Exactly my point! I don’t know why Hyundai is so mum about the upcoming i20. Even during the Venue, we had already seen numerous production ready pics well before it’s official launch.

Wouldn’t it be too late for them to capitalise on the festive demand? As they will be launching on the 28th Oct, wherein the festive season will already be halfway through; post that if they follow the same suit like what Kia did with Sonet, we are looking at deliveries starting from the end Nov. Which will be too late IMHO.
Hope Hyundai plays it smart here.

What’s up with only getting the iMT in the Turbo variants |
Exactly! I would like to have a choice between the purity of a manual transmission and the convenience of an automatic, not get forced to take something in between.
Just got a call from my dealer in Mumbai. They have started taking pre bookings from yesterday, for an amount of Rs 25,000. I'm hoping for a diesel automatic too, like in the Sonet!
How long more do we have to wait :Frustrati
Diesel Automatic at this segment and at a time when markets are moving away from diesels and a segment which is price sensitive, matters. Its easy cribbing about but in reality, how many people buy?
Can anyone tell me how many NIOS diesel AMTs and Aura diesel AMTs are being sold every month?

Spoke to my dealer again. This is what I got to know. Some of the things are contrary to other posts, let's see what is finally launched.
1. CVT and DCT petrol will be available in Asta (O) variant
2. Paddle shifters on DCT
3. Top trim will have 8" infotainment system
4. No diesel automatic
5. Full launch on 28th Oct (highly doubt this looking at recent trends)

Okay, after watching this, a few observations and questions. Are we getting a fully digital instrument cluster, sure seems like it. I spotted a wireless charging pad, the infotainment system seems a lot like that of the international i20, and a sunroof has been added as well. At the rear though, it looks like the headrests are integrated rather than seperated, that feels like a bummer, especially if this is a top spec model.
With features like these, the 2020 i20 is going to raise the heat big time, but a premium pricing should be expected.
Hopefully they don't botch the pricing, my family and I are looking to upgrade our 2015 i20 sportz to the 2020 i20.
Interiors of the new Hyundai i 20.
I don't like the ridges/ribs on the dashboard/vents, which flows on to even the doors. They not only look noisy/cluttered to the eyes, they result in uneven 'wear and tear' of surfaces over the years and make them difficult to clean. This is also against the current trend of cleaner designs (they remind me of the window air conditioners of the 90s).
Verna like instrument cluster, venue like air purifier, sonet/seltos like 10.25 inch touchscreen and auto dimming IRVM are the bits I could make out from the video and pic posted.
The new gen i20 will be a hot seller!
Spotted at a dealership.
The space between the AC vents and HVAC controls looks a bit ungainly!
