It looks a lot better than I thought. Never like the Aircross design. Even though it inherits many traits from Aircross, the C3 looks much better. I think this one has the potential to establish the Citroen brand in India. They should have launched this first. I have a feeling, this may even result in selling more Aircross because this will get the masses to flow into the showrooms. There is a category that wants exclusivity and wants to move away from Tata, Hyundai, and Suzuki.

Citroën C3, new details revealed in Brazil.





- Will have 13 color options ( including bicolor options )
- Two are already known: the blue Spring Blue with white ceiling revealed in the
confirmation of the car, and the Artense Gray with black ceiling
- Customization will be one of the brand's bets on its new entry model
- The new generation of the C3 will have more than 150 combinations between its
versions, colors and accessories.
- The control panel of the new C3 will have two color options: Steel Grey or Metallic Blue.

It is still uncertain what mechanics Citroën will use in this new C3, but it should not be just one, because the hotsite mentions "engines". Thus, it can come equipped with the 1.6 four-cylinder current Peugeot 208 of 118 hp and 15.5 kgfm, or even with the three-cylinder engine 1.0 Firefly of the Fiat Argo, up to 77 hp and 10.9 kgfm. In the case of 1.6, the gearbox would be the same as the automatic 6-speed, while the Argo 1.0 would be combined with a manual transmission.

New C3 panel will arrive with two color options: Steel Grey or Metallic Blue.

The Citroen C3 is expected to be fitted with a 1.2-litre petrol engine that the automaker manufactures in India. This could be mated to manual as well as automatic gearboxes.

I am not able to understand the strategy of Citroen in India. On one hand, they launched a premium vehicle, the C5 Aircross, which costs more than Compass and Tucson, it's main rivals. On the other hand, it is launching a sub 4m car, whose pricing I am not able to think of, considering the pricing of C5 Aircross.

The next thing that comes in mind is very small dealer network. How many new dealers will Citroen open in 3 months and how well will they sell this vital new car in the Indian market, considering the competition it already has? It is very difficult to be a huge hit, like Kia was with the Seltos. I haven't seen a C5 Aircross on road even once! It sells around 50- 80 units a month. How will they make this car a success in a mass market segment which already has a lot of heat?

Lastly, how will be the After Sales Service by the company and how well will Citroens perform in terms of reliability?

I am really excited of this new launch and am waiting to see how well Citroen plans the pricing and variants in order to sell respectable volumes of the C3. Apart from features, if they focused on build quality, material quality, something older VWs used to offer (unfortunately, used to...), along with a good powertrain and drive quality too(which new vehicles are somehow lacking) it would be a killer vehicle in a competitive segment. It will attract a new set of enthusiastic customers along with the people shopping in the segment.

Those who really know their vehicles well and like to keep it for long won't mind shelling a few extra bucks to get a better product overall. Playing on the factors which the segment is lacking and offering important and useful features instead of loading it to the gills would make the C3 standout in the crowd, while retaining a premium brand and selling really good amount of numbers.

So it looks like the Indian car will miss at least the following equipment compared to the Brazilian one:
-ORVM-mounted turn signals
-Electric mirrors (Brazilian one doesn't have the stick)
-Fifth passenger head restraint

Let's hope ESC doesn't make it to the list. It doesn't look like this model will get side airbags and Stellantis has recently come under fire from Latin NCAP for horrible side impact performance (the Fiat Cronos' window didn't break and the head showed high risk of life-threatening injury, and the penetration of the barrier was really high) so let's see what they'll do for the Brazilian one. And even if that one does ok in Latin NCAP (for a budget car I'll say 'ok' = anything >0 stars Latin NCAP, like its bigger brother the Peugeot 208 with two stars, incidentally the second-best performer yet under the new Latin NCAP protocol) I'm really not trusting the Indian one until I see a test.

- Citroën C3 2023 will hit the market with 1.0 Firefly and 1.6 16V EC5 engines

- New Citroën C3 2023 will be sold in Live 1.0, Feel 1.0, First Edition 1.0, Feel 1.6 , Feel 1.6 Pack AT, First Edition 1.6 AT

In the Live, Feel and First Editon engine versions 1.0 Firefly P-L7 will have the same calibration as the Fiat Argo. Thus, it will have 71 hp at 6,000 rpm and torque from 10 kgfm to 3,250 rpm with gasoline and 75 hp of power at 6,000 rpm and torque from 10.7 kgfm to 3,250 rpm when supplied with ethanol. The transmission will be the five-speed manual.

In the Feel, Feel Pack and First Edition options, the 1.6 EC5 engine yields 113 hp at 6,000 rpm and torque of 15.4 kgfm at 4,250 rpm with gasoline in the tank. With ethanol the power will be 120 hp at 6,000 rpm and touch from 15.6 kgfm to 4,500 rpm. The 1.6 engine can be connected to the five-speed manual gearbox or the six-speed automatic.

With engine 1.0 Firefly, the new C3 2023 will have less "adventurous" look, the plastic appliques at the bottom of the doors have been removed. Moreover, what will change between versions 1.0 and 1.6 will be the steel wheels with hubcaps or alloy depending on the version. Two-tone painting will be available for all versions.

According to the brand, the new C3 2023 will feature thirteen color combination options with the body bitom paint. The hatch will have a sharp separation line between the body and the ceiling in different colors, providing a wide range of combinations for customers.

I sincerely hope these are not the same engines destined for the Indian market? All competing models like Kia Sonet, Hyunday Venue, Tata Punch, Mahindra XUV300, etc offer much more powerful powerplants. The 1.6 NA motor will also fall foul of the sub-4m tax break regulation, making the price potentially uncompetitive in the market.

They will be better off offering their Puretech turbo 1.2 engine in India, which is already being used in a variety of models since 2016 and is BS6 compliant.

They might as well announce the price. The test mules are all over with and without camouflage. For months!

This is only Citroens 2nd product if launched. I wonder about the pricing, if they get it wrong, that will be the end of Citroen. It has been such long testing, the mules have had a design update.
