Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

A Sub 4m Car with same dimensional package for International and Indian markets sounds great. Hope Citroen does not go for cost cutting to woo the Indian Market.

If Citroen is serious about the market they need to ramp up their Sales Points before even launching this mass market SUV.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

only 2 power windows !

No Auto AC

no Electric mirror adjustment or power folding mirrors in 2021 ( see the internally adjustable stalks for the mirrors!)

only 2 reverse sensors !

No rear wiper or defogger

No wireless apple car play or android auto

full plastic door trims ( not even a patch of fabric)

these are all the things I can decipher from the image

Boy oh boy, its one trimmed down feature list.

Hope the price is worth it.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

Here is how the Citroen C3 'Cross Hatch' compares to the current European C3:

The Citroën C3 will also be made and sold in the Mercosur region - the trade bloc of 12 Latin American countries like Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Colombia.

Citroën's plans for India:

- The brand has confirmed that there will one launch a year from 2022-24.
- The subcompact or compact SUV is still very much in play.
- C3 will form the backbone of a volumes push for the brand in India and LatAm, while the follow up products will no doubt further cash in on the growth trend and demand seen in the SUV segments that sit below Rs 20 lakh in India.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

Very strange car. I m curious about it.

3.98m in length, 310L boot & 180cm GC, 1.2 Turbo petrol with DCT & MT. Large and fair that way.

But misses out basic features like
- Rear power windows
- Electronic ORVM controls (gets old school levers)
- Auto A/C
- Adjustable head rests
- Pull out handles
- Rear Antennas ( Shark fins)
- Rear Wiper & Defogger
- Alloy wheels

How is this positioned? Below Magnite? Magnite launched at 4.99L ex showroom.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

A DCT and a turbo petrol if well priced will be a tasty proposition for urban folks. Let's see how they price it. By the time this car launches, the Casper and Punch will also probably be on our roads.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

Looks smart, if priced/marketed well makes for a good buy.
In certain profiles it gives me a hint of a grown up and matured Kwid, albeit larger and more premium which i feel is good.

CSUV's are the new battle ground it seems now.

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

Looks like Citroën wants to provide a logical upgrade to Kwid owners who don't need the Triber's 7 seats. Guess they are providing a premium hatch size car for Swift money

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

I really like the design and the Blue and White dual tone looks fabulous! Is there an official announcement of the feature list? Because I don't see how you roll down the rear windows if there's no switch at the back?

The rear windows are powered, just the switches are not on the rear door pads.

According to Hindustan Times Auto, the Citroen C3 shared its CMP (Common Modular Platform) with the Tata Punch

Re: Citroen C3 budget crossover for India

More on the Citroën C3 from the global press ( Brazil/UK/India)

- Brazil launch is in April 2022, likely to be the same for India too. (available at the dealerships)

- C3 is the trade name for all of B-segment hatchbacks around the world for Citroen.

- The new C3 is 3980 mm long. The wheelbase is 2.540 mm. It offers second row passengers’ seats with the largest legroom in the segment (653 mm).

- The front seats offer occupants the best room for manoeuvre (1,418 mm) and market headroom (991 mm). The rear seats offer the highest level of space to transport passengers with the greatest comfort.

-Gets tall and bulbous bonnet is headlined by the split headlight signature used on the latest C4 and the soon-to-launch C5 X.

- The raised ride height (24”tyre)has been designed to give the New C3 additional clearance on less than perfect roads - around 40 per cent of India’s road network is unsurfaced.

-Citroen promises plenty of customisation options for buyers, with 11 single-tone and two-tone paint schemes to choose from.

- Inside, there’s seating for five occupants, and the brand promises plenty of practical storage compartments

- Headlining the dashboard is a new widescreen 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, behind which is a small storage space.

-Alongside this huge screen, the New C3 retains plenty of traditional switchgear for the heating and ventilation controls

-The new C3 features a 315-litre trunk, a 1-litre glove compartment, two 2-litre door holders at the front that can accommodate a 1-litre bottle along with other objects, two 1-litre cup holders at the rear, two cup holders and a storage compartment in the central console, as well as two cup holders at the rear that can turn into smartphone holders.

-Three USB sockets are provided (one in the front, two in the rear) alongside a 12v output.

- Thirteen customization variants are therefore available in South America.

-In India, it is expected to have the 1.2-cylinder turbo engine, with about 130 hp, combined with a 5-speed manual transmission or an automated double clutch

-In the case of Brazil, it will have the same 1.6 of 118 hp at 5,750 rpm and 15.5 kgfm of torque at 4,000 rpm and everything points out that it will receive fiat engines – the most quoted is the 1.0 turbo that will equip the Fiat Pulse, with about 120 hp and 20 kgfm

-Citroën also says that it was developed to have a fully electric version if it needs to meet the market.

- Part of the "C-Cubed" project, which will give rise to two more models by 2024 (an SUV and a sedan),

May not be such a big joke.

Remember this is the same platform that Volkswagen too wanted to adopt for their Indian lineup, before Skoda got the go-ahead to localize the MQB A0 platform for India.

Definitely not a platform to be written-off, just because it was developed by TATA Motors.

I didn't direct the joke towards Tata or Citroen, I meant it for Hindustan Times Auto because I thought they mentioned something wrongly, and it is something I still believe is wrong because;

The Tata Punch is based on the Alfa-Arc platform of the Altroz IIRC whereas CMP (Common Modular Platform) is from PSA.

Tata's is AMP (Advanced Modular Platform), which VW was planning to use.

The Citroen C3 is expected to be based on the PSA Group’s Common Modular Platform (CMP), which already forms the basis for several Peugeot models on sale abroad.

Sure, it's a possibility, but I don't think they would advertise the CMP architecture then, would they? Unless CMP in India means something different from what CMP means worldwide, just like C3 in India now means something different from what C3 means elsewhere. If it turns out the news is true (which I think is unlikely), I only hope Citroën capitalises on the inherent crashworthiness of the ALFA architecture and debunks the rumours about the subpar crash safety. It's just that something about it seems very unlikely. Besides, no other news outlet than Hindustan Times is reporting it.

What I think has happened is that they meant to say 'Citroen C3 SUV to make global debut today, to share stage with Tata Punch', as in, to rival the Tata Punch. Maybe some internal miscommunication and the final article read differently. But it's just a theory on my part and I may be wrong.

They also have another article claiming the same thing, which you'll find in the linked post:
