Sweet spot in terms of features, IMO. Thank you, @RavenAvi !

Any idea about the dimensions ? This is one part that I am looking out for. After all the Tata vehicles I have had so far, I definitely give this a look. Would like to get a new diesel before the BS6.2 norms come in.

With the Scorpio-N coming, Tata will feel the heat. THey dont have anything in the BOF space currently. Or will they dig up the Hexa again and rework it ?

Had a up and close look of the Scorpio N. It's indeed big, and has a squat stance compared to the current Scorpio.

The rear quarter panel and rear hatch camouflage has cushion padding to hide the shape underneath.

The rear discs are kinda BIG.

While it has electronic 4x4 modes, I'm told it does have 4L (I couldn't verify this personally).

Does this mean no low range as quoted in Autocar article ?

That’s my exact concern. Hope that is not true and it offers a low range on some modes like rock mode.

The absence of low range gear box is a downer.

Confirmed, ph03n!x.

Direct confirmation from birdie - the part-time 4x4 system in the Scorpio-N gets 2H, 4H, N AND 4L modes, which is the same as the Thar. So you guys can rejoice!

In addition to this part-time 4x4 system, the Scorpio-N gets 4 separate drive modes which is enabled via a knob on the gear lever console - similar to the one seen on the 7OO's higher variants. They are for normal, sandy/coarse, slippery/mud, and snowy road conditions. This is called 4Matic, apparently, and is quite effective in all these situations, as shown in the simulations done during the off-roading course.

One more thing - the Scorpio-N will be offered in 2 seating configurations - 6-seater and 7-seater. Captain row seats will be available from launch day itself.

Pricing details are not out yet but I am told that the top variant will be around 2 lakhs cheaper than the 7OO's top variant.

Exact dimension measurements are not out. But the Scorpio-N looks larger than the 7OO. It is higher, but of course. But not longer.

Important thing to look for is distribution of these features and minimum price one has to pay for certain combinations as given below,

2wd + Diesel + AT
Cruise Control + AT
4wd + MT
4wd + AT (Most probably only top)

4Matic is trademarked by Mercedes Benz i think. Mahindra will have to call it something else. How about 4Rise lol:

Thanks for sharing the scoop, RavenAvi.

Any idea about the weight?
For me, before the TD, it is an important factor.

Being a BoF, and the overall 'big daddy' size, wondering how much more than the XUV700 it might be.Weight being important for Power/weight ratio, Torque to weight ratio, and also FE; besides handling/dynamics. I don't expect it to save weight with a non-metal rear end as the XUV has, considering it's market.

The figures, indicate that the diesel would be tuned for FE and targeted more towards highway mile crunchers; whereas the Petrol being a more premium city-focused one, and might suffer worse FE than the XUV700.

The 205mm GC is like the Harrier and Safari, so it might have a Centre of Gravity comparable to the Safari, or possibly even lower considering a BoF, which is good news from the dynamics/handling front. (Safari is a bit higher than the Harrier - 8cms)

That is great news for people craving for a proper BOF off roader. One more question to that comes to my mind that will give this scorpio the ultimate edge.
Any sort of rear Diff lock on the car. LSD or a MLD like the bolero neo/thar
this is something even the 2WD scorpio will benefit from.

PLease udate on the same.

Oh this scoop is looking spicy. I'm even willing to take a loan for it, provided the prices are sensible.

Glad that they got rid of ADAS

Great. :Cheering: It sounded quite stupid when ACI said 4L may not be there. Why would Mahindra bother to change when they can use the same system from the Thar in the Scorpio. Afterall, they are not one to shy away from cannibalising their own products unlike the other local company.

Now, only if Mahindra launched the equivalent of the Scorpio S4 4WD of the mid 2010s. :D, instead of giving it only on the topmost variant. Greedy much...

Thank you @Balenoed @Poitive and @Kosfactor for your advice. Much appreciated. Let me do the reading on the specific threads quoted by you. Also, I am planning to do the test drives before making any decision.

And @RavenAvi, thanks for the scoop info on the ScorpioN. Your scoops for the 1-gen Creta did help us in zeroing in the purchase way back in 2015.

@Geta, looks like you were right :D 172 BHP is around 130 kW.

Spoke to a dealer in Ahmedabad, and he says they currently have a date of 15 June for bookings to start.

Is the thar 4 door still on the plans of Mahindra or it has been replaced by the new Scorpio ?
