Similarly, our 2nd obsession is AWD! Maybe it’s a cost vs returns business scenario. Today Mahindra XUV700 is a roaring success, but I’m sure the top end AWD is not more than 10-15% of their sales. And so it’s ok for a company like Tata to decide not to offer it. And AWD is not really a requirement in most cases.

AWD may not be necessary in a large, heavy but RWD vehicle. But it is almost necessary in large, heavy but FWD vehicle. Else many areas would be out of bounds for the vehicle.

A very pertinent observation. FWD vs RWD vs AWD is a subject that has been gone into in great detail on this forum, and in more than one thread!
But this aspect of FWD has not. The great advantage of FWD was show-cased by Alec Issigonis in the immortal Mini - because of its tiny W.B. (2036 mm & 590 kg kerb wt!) in the hatch-back form. This gave the car extraordinary agility and handling. This great advantage of FWD starts evaporating with ever larger wheel bases and ever heavier kerb weights. The reason for its universal popularity even in very large cars (Kia carnival, with a W.B. of 3060mm & kerb wt of 2201 kg!) is simply because of the ease & economy of manufacturing and compact packaging of the engine/drivetrain. Obviously it is gross engineering, but when bean counters call the shots......

Normal sunroof based on spyshots confirmed for the new gen Mahindra Scorpio. See https://m.motoroctane.com/article/ma...y-shots/234339

oh my goodness , we've been seeing this thing in production ready guise since January 2021  , Mahindra at least give us a teaser , we deserve it for being patient for so long :uncontrol

Spotted the vehicle at Trichy - Chennai highway. Car had a good road presence and looked a tad bigger than the current gen. Rear turn indicators were sequential, I am unable to upload the video, so just shared a gif of the same.

I wish they get rid of that ugly vertical tail lamps. Otherwise the new lóok and stance seems way better.

No scoops or news coming up of the new Scorpio? Come on Mahindra give us something.

Want to see the Scorpio before deciding between XUV700 and this.

Got a confirmtion call for the TD of the XUV700 that we had enquired for a month ago. Told him we were waiting for the Scorpio to launch and take a decision then, so we were definitely not going to book the XUV700 now. He told he was bringing the car over nevertheless.

Asked him if the Scorpio would be available on the market (after all the tease, unveil, launch, media drive) atleast before Deepawali, to which he confidently said, " Sir, Maximum two months. Would be launched within two months."

The upcoming Scorpio parked next to a XUV700.

The only thing that I don't like about the spy images of Scorpio is its Xylo'ish rear. A good one for an MPV, but not so for an SUV. Let's wait and see how it looks in real life.

The new gen Scorpio was getting loaded on a plane, before it got spied on.

Birdie from plant tweets that the 2022 Scorpio will be offered with a normal sunroof at launch. Pano sunroof is not on the cards at the moment.

Also, 6-seater versions of the Scorpio & the 7OO are being prepped as Optional packs for the top variants of each SUV's variant lineup.

Similar to the XUV7OO, the Scorpio is also expected to have a detuned diesel base variant, for a killer starting price (introductory).

More info as and when I get them.

If Mahindra makes it anywhere close to a true 7 seater, am so tempted to sell my Marazzo. But it already looks like it would mostly be 5 seater (so is XUV7OO) but will come with way better engines and feature set than my Marazzo.
