Three big launches of 2021. Homegrown full-size SUVs - Safari, Scorpio and XUV500. All arriving within a few months of one another. Exciting times. But, if I were to pick one out of the three, Scorpio would be my pick. I'm sure it would undercut the other two on price. It should be the tallest of the three, with that second floor driving experience towering over the traffic. Also, in the pic above , it looks Prado-ish from side. That should also add some value to it.

Horizontal tail lamps much like the Escalade.

Can we please have the front designed on similar lines, but wait I think that's already reserved for the XUV500 :D

Scorpio has been spied with a sunroof.

Hope its a real badass ! With Scopio and XUV, Mahindra is going to corner a market between practical, butch, ride on rough roads and premiumness with good highway manners and features.
Will be really interesting when both come out with existing customers of both current vehicles themselves making up good numbers.

The rear door looks very Xylo-esque.

Hope it looks better once it's unveiled.

The vertical tail light seems to have become Scorpios signature look.

Did anyone noticed that ? He's is alone, none to compete with new Scorpio !

At one end it's the Thar , next closer one is Toyota Innova , stretching further there is Fortuner/Endeavour/GLOSTER/ALTURAS ! Yup BOF SUVs are dying .

If Mahindra can achieve a respectable 4star crash rating with this model , then it will be a fantastic package !

Meanwhile can't ignore the uncanny resemblance with KIA MOHAVE in its camouflage !

Don't forget there's also the TUV300, the only BoF and RWD sub-compact SUV in it's segment.

I think they can achieve it. The new Thar shocked many when it scored 4 stars, while there are some monocoque crossovers that barely scored 3.

The rear looks MPVish. Hope the actual rear glass area is in proportion with the sheet metal area to avoid giving out MPV vibes.

It just needs to look better, having a door that size is really very practical. Once I was carrying an AC in an XUV, it was a pain loading and unloading it as I was mostly alone with a 15 year old for assist.

If Mahindra manages to hide the big plain metallic part that such doors are actually, it will be great.

A few signature elements shall be kept IMO, they keep the loyalists happy. With the number of Scorpios on the road, and many of them getting older too, probably this can pull many prospects. I know people who can vouch by the reliability and robust build of this Mahindra workhorse (Me included), if the new Scorpio carry this attributes, with slight design touches of the older car, it can be a runaway success (BTW I have a gut feel that this time Mahindra is going to make an onslaught).

All the TUV needs is a better motor, it is a very capable, VFM and robust vehicle else.

'Barely' is the wrong word here, let's use the phrase 'scraped through' the 3.0 star point.

Very valid point indeed. What are Creta and Seltos to Hyundai now, Scorpio is to Mahindra! Alone players with entire playground to them!

Scorpio, has another advantage, of being the only RWD ladder frame SUV, and the price range will probably put it in a place where it will have a clear cut monopoly.

Customer: It needs to have a potent engine, rear wheel drive, space for seven, many features, and under or around 20 lac!
Mahindra Sales Guy: You can have anything sir as long as it's a Scorpio! :Cheering:

Only the lower trims! I am hoping that Scorpio will probably give us the 4x4 AT or top end T at a cost, lower than that of Innova VX itself.

That's the reason I said, if anyone with say 18-19 lac wants features, seven seats, RWD and ladder frame based SUV. They have options like black Scorpio, or White Scorpio, or Silver Scorpio, or other colors and models? It's more like an arrange marriage where the parents give you the pics of 10 girls and say "You will be married as per your choice, select one of them"! :D

They will do this too, Dr. Goenka had clearly said that "the bar is defined, wherever we can get 5 we will get 5, but 4 is the minimum", after the crash test of Thar.

Here is the interview, watch 09:00 onwards for the same talk and a few interesting statements too:

it's blown up Brezza from the front.

And resembles Safari from the back.

Can't ignore the uncanny resemblance.

Boxy to curvy, it'll take time to forget the current gen Scorpio.

I really hope that the disproportionately large appearance of the vehicle's rear is due to the photo being taken through a glass window. If not, it looks horrible and is definitely a backward (pardon the weak pun) step in the evolution of the Scorpio's design. :Frustrati
