Totally unrelated and personal opinion only:

WHAT IF
Tata relaunches Hexa and positions it above the Safari with an updated feature set and pitches it against the Scorpio-N and, err, fortuner?

Scorpio -N looks dope in Black. I would prefer this instead of XUV700. And I wish the sunroof was bigger in size. I like the sunroof at nights, love seeing the sky from it.

Why people are going to buy Thar now? Both are around same price point, where scorpio offers more practicality, more features, more tech, more everything. Whats going to be their strategy for Thar?

I remember seeing Camera's on side mirrors on the test mule's and there were discussions around Scorpio N having 360 Camera. Looks like they skipped it or will release a more premium version sometime later.

Actually I noticed the front camera in one of EvoIndia’s pictures!

Hello Chennai Folks,

New model Scorpio N is at MM Motors - Iyappanthangal showroom

Br,
Venkat

Brochure as received from sales guys attached.

Just some additional thoughts and considerations.

Having seen it today I think the new Scorpio N is very worthy of consideration in comparison with the erstwhile Endy and the present Fortuner and it definitely (to me at least) carries much greater appeal than the MG Hector/ Gloster and Hyundai Alcazar and Kia Carens and all those vehicles. Frankly it is even more appealing than the XUV 7OO too.

So this looks like the absolute right mix of power, toughness, substance, go anywhere ruggedness, overall capability and capacity and size plus comfort and last but not least, ‘presence’ and pricing as well!

Looking at the pricing, it really looks that Mahindra have taken the offensive and are literally taking the fight to Toyota’s door. After all, in an SUV crazy country like ours, size does matter as do price and features. And truth be told, the Scorpio N seems to have got all of these aspects just right. It certainly seems to be ticking all the boxes judging by the overall reactions!
Now we must wait and hope that the booking process is clean and the manufacture and delivery process is smooth.

I hazard that maybe Mahindra should have been the ones to bid for and buy the Ford Sanand Plant in order to manage their manufacturing and deliveries across their stable of new vehicles!

What surprises me is not even a single vehicle is displayed in White colour. Seems to be purposely avoided. I wish Mahindra also revealed the AT prices but I guess they want to keep the price to max 19.99L.

Z8 seems to tick all the boxes and I wonder the premium of 2.6L for Z8L variant [onroad price]. Why they haven't provided alloy wheels on Z8 MT? Again I guess they will launch Z10 variant after a month or two with all the notable missing features [360 degree view camera, third row split seats, etc]

1. Would 360 degrees camera be included in only the AT version (who's full feature list is not out yet)? I understand there is no correlation between the two, but the cameras being spotted in the test mules and being omitted today, sure makes one think on those lines.

2. What about the Scorpio Classic now that the introductionary prices for Scorpio N are below the current Scorpio Classic price!

3. Seeing the butch looks, this vehicle might just become a favorite of some local politicians while the ones higher up in the pecking order would get the Fortuner!

Price and comparison list
Let the list do the talking

The best part of the entire launch event for me was the Engineering Deepdive by Mr. Velu, reminds me of my Engineering lectures.

On the whole, a great launch event for the Scorpio N. Slightly disappointed by the variant and feature spread with many must haves missing from the lower variants.

Waiting for the 4X4 and Automatic Variants now.

Attractive pricing as expected from Mahindra. Quite a few features are exclusive to the AT's and pricing reveal at a later date makes me feel it will be a substantial jump of at least 2L ex-showroom (For XUV 700 it's 1.6-1.7L). The Z8 Diesel AT will end up around 24-25L OTR by the time of delivery for most folks.

With improving semiconductor supplies, new launches like Toyota Hyryder + its twin, Creta facelift around the corner -waiting periods should be coming down in 15-25L segment by festive season. Hoping to see the return of some discounts by year end and move on from the crazy seller driven market.

That's Hattrick of blockbuster from Mahindra -- Thar, XUV 700 and now Scorpio-N! clap:

Except for the daddy thing, everything looks great!

1) Harrier/Safari is surviving and selling decently currently only due to chip issues. If not, they will be trashed by XUV 700 and now Scorpio-N.
2) Safari is fighting it out with XUV700, so there is no way Hexa can sit above Safari and fight Scorpio-N considering the latter sits below XUV700.
3) Hexa unfortunately is a closed chapter. So are 4*4 TATA vehicles. Expecting TATA to launch them is like Maruti launching Jimny.

Both AT and 4WD are missing. I remember reading on XUV7OO thread about shortage of 4WD components from Germany and deliveries are delayed. This could be the reason for delaying the announcement of pricing.

For AT, I believe it could be delayed to sort out the semiconductor shortage. Probably, the sourcing team might be waiting for more visibility on supplies and associated inflation - impacts pricing.

A friend shared these pictures.

He wont mind very much if I share them here considering the vehicle is now officially unveiled…

Here you go. Scorpio N in White. (And in a few other colours as well)

I remember how polarizing the opinions were on the XUV7OO looks when it was launched. On the contrast, this thread unanimously agrees on the masculine, butch & much sober looks of the Scorpio-N. I personally wanted to book the 7OO, but the front facia always stopped me. Looks like Scorpio-N is the one for me.

Strongly feel this is going to be a classic, people will look back to this design for many many years to come. I cannot get a Land Cruiser, but I'll have the Scorpio-N permanently in my garage.
