Sony branded speakers?

Powered seat - but which seat? Could have added 'driver' or 'driver+passenger'

It will be only the driver seat which is powered.

The Scorpio-N will straddle the C and D segments and deliver to customers of both. Here are some of the vehicles in those segments.

Bose Pratap : The ScorpioN was designed to be muscular, tallest and widest in the segment and a long bonnet which is a signature of SUV’s. The new ScorpioN is still body on frame but a new platform on which Thar is also based.

I never thought anybody could/would go overboard with the moniker of daddy, but Mahindra has proved me wrong. They also shot that launch video with everyone looking like a Chicago gangster from the 1930s. :)

Can someone knowledgable explain what the penta link suspension with watt's linkage means for the driver / passengers? The active dampening system reminds me of Tata Hexa, so I hope the ride is as good as the Hexa.

I can't wait for team-bhp review. Hope to see something by the 30th of this month.

The video just confirms my perception about Pratap Bose. He seems to be that type of slimy character who has no qualms for usurping credit for work done by others. It takes a completely different level of shamelessness to be at the forefront talking about design of a vehicle which you haven't contributed to.

Mr.Pratap Bose is the Chief Design Officer in M&M and who else do we expect to talk about the design? His track record has been top notch and there is no reason for us to speak so poorly about him.

What is the point of such events?

These events are very important to build up hype. Every news outlet was doing a live coverage.

Surprising that one would need to buy a W8 for the below. I would have expected these in Z4 itself. Will need to see what may be available as accessories.
- Push button start
- Keyless entry
- Power fold ORVM
- Rear Camera
- Front sensors

Doesn't Z2 diesel have power steering? If that is the case, then it is really bare bones. Wonder where would the Scorpio Classic be placed.

Good to see ESP from Z4 onwards.

But.

Zip -zap -zoom from Z6 onwards? So Z4 diesel will be always on Zoom mode?

4xplor on Z8 onwards? So what is the system in the lower variants? Pray it is that mechanical lever from Thar.

Electronic Power Steering is a surprise, thought it would have the hydraulic power steering from Thar. But my biggest doubt in the variant spread. Diesel variants get Electronic Power Steering from Z4 onwards? So the Z2 diesel is going to get hydraulic power steering?

Edit: Went through the brochure just now. So the base variants, specifically the 130bhp diesel ones get hydraulic power steering.

Also the zip-zap-zoom modes are only on the 2wd models?

So 4x4 and 4xplore are two different things. Z4(O) with 4x4 was looking good, but how is 4Xplore different from that?

4xplore probably has terrain management system, Z4 gets simple 4x4 (4H,4L) like previous gen Scorpio. Z4 also misses out MLD . While system in Z8 should be more capable, will be more complex too, tha ks to addition of electronics.

Going by their website, there is only one diesel variant Z6.
Also 4*4 option is going to be there from Z4 variant, this might kill significant Thar bookings.

Received this brochure from Mahindra sales executive.

As per the brochure and website, Z6 variant is available only in Diesel. It had all that I was looking for in Petrol. Don't know what kind of logic is this to not have one of the mid variant in Petrol. :unhappy

Why they didn't reveal prices at Launch event itself. Maybe they were evaluating number of people watching and coverage they were getting. If coverage more than expected increase price slightly. Otherwise, why would they reveal prices only after 2 hours.

All the variants of the Scorpio N

The range starts from the Z2 variant and goes up to Z8L variant . 4×4 drive is available from the Z4 variant.

The Scorpio N will be getting a more stronger petrol engine than the XUV700  , The XUV700 petrol makes about 200 PS and the Scorpio N petrol will make 203 PS .

There are some idiosyncrasies in the feature distribution. Two completely unusual and unexpected ones:

1. Manual and Automatic transmission get different wheels sizes! R17 for MT and R18 for AT. Has anyone ever seen this on any other car?

2. 6 seater (captain seats) variant doesn't get 4WD!

3. Wireless charging only on Diesel, 4WD, AT. This one is the weirdest to be honest :) Possibly something to do with space management on the center console between the two front seats?
