Re: Toyota Glanza (rebadged Maruti Baleno). EDIT: Launched @ Rs 7.22 lakh

So I was scrolling through Instagram and saw this post by Toyota India official account that shows a black Glanza with the fortuner and Yaris

Toyota Glanza (rebadged Maruti Baleno). EDIT: Launched @ Rs 7.22 lakh-219922835_125499543090153_875292388908391951_n.jpg

Link

Since the Glanza and Baleno are not available with a black color and this does not look like the grey color both hatchbacks come with, could Toyota launch a Glanza Black edition just like they did for the Yaris a few months ago?

You had rightly pointed out that the word Glanza closely mimics the Glans ****s. What you have not realised is that even "balano-" (Latin) means the same thing!!

So Maruti and Toyota knew exactly what they were selling us. Only we didn't realise it till it was too obvious to miss 😁😁

Actually Glanza is German for Radiance and Baleno is Italian for Lightning. So you might be wrong with your facts!

Re: Toyota Glanza (rebadged Maruti Baleno). EDIT: Launched @ Rs 7.22 lakh

Some News from the Toyota Camp.

Glanza is being given a facelift ( copy and paste job) similar to Baleno. However, this time Toyota is expected to increase its offering in Glanza with the following new trims:
1. Expect a base model now (Till now Toyota Glanza was only available from the mid grade of Baleno. Now the base model is also being included)
2. Expect a CNG version of the Glanza.
3. Expect an AMT version of the Glanza as well.

With all these three offerings Toyota expects to ramp up its volumes in the segment.

I dont think Baleno has a CNG or an AMT version so expecting CNG/AMT from the Maruti's portfolio as well.

Appears that Maruti/Toyota plan to take on Tata with their AMT offerings since the CVT options become costlier for the Indian markets. Also CNG would be a good option for customers.

Expected launch for the product is March (considering COVID doesn't disrupt the production schedules).

Re: Toyota Glanza (rebadged Maruti Baleno). EDIT: Launched @ Rs 7.22 lakh

Baleno is a rare Maruti car with IR glass and CVT. I hope Maruti / Toyota doesn't reduce or dilute the features.

Re: Toyota Glanza (rebadged Maruti Baleno). EDIT: Launched @ Rs 7.22 lakh

Hi, since the past few months my steering makes a faint "kkrrrr" sound while doing full turns. Anyone else faced this issue? I know many Baleno folks have got the steering column replaced under warranty. Thinking of getting this checked from Toyota.

Is there a pdf version of the Glanza that can be downloaded?
The web version on Toyota's site isn't very comfortable to use.

Re: Toyota Glanza (rebadged Maruti Baleno). EDIT: Launched @ Rs 7.22 lakh

Does any one know the history of the CVT used in the Glanza / Baleno ?

Maruti did not have a CVT by themselves. Not sure about Toyota. So where did this CVT come from ?

Basically, the question comes from an intended purchase of a 2021 Glanza V CVT in the family. The question of parts in case of an eventuality.

Some pun on Dhantreas . Not to hurt anyone.
Download Baleno Manual. Convert it to word. Replace Baleno with Glanza and Suzuki with Toyota. Boom, you have it.

To be honest, Maruti would have done the same thing and delivered Balenos to Toyota. Unless you are looking for something specific, which there isn't any. You can use Baleno's.

Not sure how you arrived at this conclusion. Maruti didnt have any transmission by themselves but used whatever was available in Suzukis global offering. That has always been the case. Suzuki has been using this CVT in almost every small car offering they have. Its a very popular unit which has found its place in many other manufacturers as well and is being produced from 2009. As for maintenance, the bigger worry would be to find the talent to fix it rather than replace the transmission. Finding child parts is not difficult though Maruti only offers a limited range of child parts you can always be able to source it outside easily.

That makes sense. The reason for the question is this CVT not being used much in their other India models, and also being replaced by the AMT again in the refreshed Glanza. You have answered the question with that point about being available in Suzuki's global offerings.

Its a Jatco (Nissan) transmission JF015. Engine/CVT interface is a torque converter (not a clutch pack like in some CVTs) so thats a good thing. Some Jatco CVTs are failure prone and I am not sure if this model is classified generally as reliable or troublesome.
