8 lakhs INR ex-showroom is great value for money considering that this variant is based on Highline Plus.

Re: Volkswagen Ameo Corporate Edition launched at Rs. 6.69 lakh

Highline plus is priced at Rs. 9.1 laks ex-showroom for the Diesel manual, so this is a cool 1.1 Lakhs off on ex-showroom price.

I wish they would offer a cut price AT variant (Comfortline Diesel AT with DSG) for around 7 lacs ex-showroom. That would be a practical hot rod with all essential features and a great engine+ transmission combo.

Is this "exactly" a highline plus or some corners have been cut?
If yes, do we have a comparison between Highline plus and Corporate edition?

Re: Volkswagen Ameo Corporate Edition launched at Rs. 6.69 lakh

Mods: I couldn't update the previous post, Thus posting as a follow on.

Went to the showroom and had a discussion and test drive for the 1.0 petrol variant.
This version is "exactly" a highline plus, manufactured in 2018.
Getting too curious, as on road in around 8L, asked for a test drive and below are my observations.

Test drove the 1.0 Mpi, and already had my hopes low considering the specs and displacement. And it has to pull a ton of weight (literally) with less than 100Nm.

But, I was surprised to find it is really good at low end drivability. I'm pretty sure VW knew this mindset and tuned the power and torque curve to kick in as early as possible.
This might be one of the refined 3 cylinder engines used. added to the stability and rigidity of the platform, it was a really good drive.
Intrigued to find the up-shift prompt starts as early as 2000 rpm!
I would say, if you need to judge this engine based on the older 1.2 MPI, do a test drive. This is not an enthusiast engine, but could be named as a "really good" city engine.
If your usage is mainly in city (and in places like Bangalore where you don't reach 4th Gear) this needs a serious look.
BTW, I managed to touch 100(a bit slowly) but the engine was relatively stress free. so if you drive at highways occasionally and not intending to reach high speeds. you can put this in the list.
