Re: Citroen C5 Aircross to be launched in India in 2021

Looks like a breath of fresh air amongst the Korean dominated Indian streets. Hopefully the first of the Stellantis's strategy works in their favor. Although C5 and Jeep Compass fall into same premium segment category, it'll interesting on how FCA and Citroen market these products.

It will be a tough fight for Citroen. But from what i've read and seen, Citroen has seen it all in markets all over. They have history and a solid USP of what they are. Not unlike some of the brands who will just put business above all else and traded their soul for money.

More than C5, i think C3 will make sense in India. Hope they bring it soon. I would have lead with C3 and then C5 but let's see if their gamble pays off.

Love how this looks and man those seats are so inviting ! The overall design reminds me so much of the Yeti.

Given it's a CKD, it's going to be priced high and will find limited buyers, however after seeing this, I'm excited for the PSA offerings to follow.

Finally a brand understands the importance of "Comfort" over power , style or many other not so important features the usual car brands talk about. Good news !

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross to be launched in India in 2021

The car looks really stunning, with a strong engine to boot. Should be successful if right priced.

My only current concern is they've partnered with a questionable Indian partner and Peugeot's past history in India.

I would wait and watch before parting with my money to them.

Citroen C5 Aircross:

There will be two trims on offer - Feel and Shine.
Here is the Feel trim which misses out on LED headlights, panoramic sunroof and hands-free electric tailgate.

In addition to regular dealerships called La Maison Citroen in 10 cities this year, there’ll also be this mobile showroom.

Here is the video from Citroën India's official YouTube channel on the thought process and efforts that went into building India's first “La Maison Citroën” (meaning “The Home of Citroën”), in Ahmedabad offering what they call is Phygital (technology-rich, brick to click) car-buying experience.

Citroen C5 Aircross- Where is the Assembly Line

No doubts on the reputation of Citroen -

Just a nagging doubt on the extent of local production or level / extent of local assembly in their Tamil Nadu factory.

Here is a pic of the latest end-Jan early Feb 2021 of the C5 rollout-
and next is an older pic ostensibly from June-July 2020 from their same India plant.

The first pic appears to be the same somewhat vacant large hangar or factory with just a few lights thrown in and some clever angle of the photo. The point is - one does not appear to see the usual assembly machinery in the back or foreground. Just a few finished vehicles lined up in-line.

So, what is the level of local manufacturing for the C5 - it appears to be perhaps an all-out CBU..?

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross to be launched in India in 2021

Citroen has given an absolute breathe of fresh air for the indian roads. We already have a thread on brand fatigue, and for us the options of Compass, Tuscon and CRV are a bit too old to choose from. Neither of them have that "wow" factor for excite or grab your eyes on the road.

I think this one has got all it, a new brand, entirely new design language and what it offers. Sure I may not get a hand on it anytime soon thanks to the budget - but this is something well written for the market.

But few things in my mind is - how long will PSA stay in India? I know Peugeot

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross to be launched in India in 2021

Citroen designs have always felt quirky to me and this one is no different. I'm not a big fan of their front end look but overall this car looks like a good package and being a new entrant, will definitely grab eyeballs on road. This new tijuca blue colour looks different too. Comfort wise is this going to be rich man's Duster? Will handling take too much hit because of the softer suspension?

The thing is it all points to a 30+ lakh onroad for this car and with limited number of dealerships+service stations coupled with no helping hand from any elder brother to gain market confidence (Kia-Hyundai) how will they manage to sale in good numbers. I sincerely hope that they succeed here because it's always good to have more options specially with more and more companies are either leaving or reducing footprint in India.

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross to be launched in India in 2021

I saw the C5 on the expressway a few months ago. Didn't give it another glance. But, as time kept on rolling, I've kind of started liking the way it looks. The specs seem to be alright and the ride and composure USP seems genuine.
I loved the way it has space for 5 seats and a whole lot of boot space at the same time. Nice Citroen, just keep the prices realistic

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross to be launched in India in 2021

The brand Citroen has an impressive track record of 59 stage wins in Dakar rally only behind Mitsubishi and Peugeot. However not much in the recent times though. For me this pedigree of rally racing definitely makes the Citroen cars aspirable. I like the looks and the interior looks plush.

India is a tough market I wish them good luck. I feel they need to spend more on marketing and deliver a sub 10 lakh petrol/diesel crossover for the masses.

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross to be launched in India in 2021

One of the most difficult things to do is getting the positioning right for any new brand that enters India. There is a saying that riches are in niches.

Comfort as a position is a brilliant niche. C5 by the way it is presented fits the bill IMHO.

I personally am at a stage where I pay the premium for Comfort. Does comfort have to be beautiful? Yes! For me and C5 looks like the answer for me.

Keen to know the downsides apart from pricing once I test drive.

I am ready to place my bets on C5 and this is my next drive definitely.

Well, Citroen's next product after C5 Aircross is in fact a Nexon/Sonet Rival. It will arrive during festive season this year. Will have Turbo Petrol & Diesel Engines.

It will sport similar styling cues as other Citroen's but will be developed in India for World. It'll be competitively priced.

After that next year, we'll see a Creta rival.

One thing is for sure, Citroen will make sure that they'll offer something more for consumers other than just a car with an engine powering it.

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross to be launched in India in 2021

This is going to fill the market space vacated by the Tiguan 5 seater. This has interesting looks, is feature rich and reasonably sized, the crossover equivalent of the Octavia/Civic segment that is nearly dead. The 2 litre diesel is another plus. The big deal over the Jeep is that the boot space is nearly 40% more.

The Compass and this can coexist, some people don't like quirky looks, others prefer sophisticated looks. It's a good thing they are sharing showrooms. The Tiguan was too plain, this has the right amount of design flair.
