Sorry if this is off-topic but wow! their logo indeed looks like a namaste! :D
It's a free for all for the Chinese now, isn't it? Other companies just cannot match their specs sheet and vfm tag.
The Chinese must probably be going "hey its free real estate" looking at the Indian market.
This is one of the better brand and car from China - the largest selling SUV brand in China also is Haval - Tata and Mahindra should be worried, considering that the desi brands still have some way to go to create world class, niggle free, Japanese rivaling products.
The Chinese can be ruthless in terms of value for money pricing - we have already seen the MG Hector assault.
They will offer immense value for money. But in the end, it will all boil down to one thing - perception. Will buyers be willing to shell out the big bucks for a Chinese brand?
SAIC successfully sidelined the issue by relying on a British Marque - MG and playing down the Chinese roots - a move which has reaped dividends.
Value for money and features aside, it'll still be a tough sell over the long run unless they get the branding right.
Great Wall may buy GM’s Maharashtra plant.

The company will be focusing on only petrol, hybrid and electric powertrains and has no plans of entering the diesel SUV segment here. Great Wall has a range of SUVs, right from a Ford EcoSport competitor to a Toyota Land Cruiser rival.

Looks similar to some more expensive cars, but I'm not complaining. It looks extremely premium and I'd assume they'll price it properly.
Great Wall Motors to invest US$ 1 billion in India
China-based Great Wall Motors has announced that it plans to invest US$ 1 billion in India in a phased manner. The carmaker has also announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government for investment in a manufacturing facility in Talegaon, near Pune.
Great Wall Motors had acquired this facility from General Motors earlier this year. The plant is spread over 300 acres and is 45 km from Pune city and 100 km from Mumbai port. The facility also has a logistics distribution centre, training centre, project management building, administrative office building and public facilities centre.
The carmaker also plans to set up an R&D centre in Bangalore, which along with the plant, is expected to generate employment for over 3,000 people in a phased manner.

If they can challenge /change the status quo especially in EV market as they did in mobile phone market, it would be great for the highly beneficial for the winter death chamber of Delhi NCR.
