Toyota Innova Crysta G Plus variant priced at Rs. 15.57 lakh

Thanks to Kiran Lokhande for sending this information in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

Toyota has silently introduced a new entry-level variant of the Innova Crysta called the G Plus. It is only available on the diesel version and in both 7 as well 8 seat configurations, priced at Rs. 15.57 lakh and Rs. 15.62 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

While the new variant has been listed in the price list, Toyota is yet to update its website and brochure. Therefore, the list of standard features offered on the G Plus variant is currently unknown. Having said that, it could get halogen headlamps, air-conditioning, seats with fabric upholstery, power steering, power windows and other basic features. Front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and seat belt reminder are likely to be offered as standard.

Given the fact that the G Plus is the entry-level trim, it is likely to be powered by the 2.4-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine which produces 148 BHP @ 3,400 rpm and 343 Nm of torque @ 1,400-2,800 rpm. The engine is expected to be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

A quick call to my Sources at Toyota confirm the following changes of New G Plus Variant compared to GX.

New G Plus Misses the following features

  • Multi Information Display (MID) on the instrument cluster
  • 2nd row arm rest in the 8 seater variant
  • Rear Window Defogger
  • Touch Screen Infotainment unit
  • Speed Sensing Door Lock
  • Impact sensing Door Unlock
  • Multi-function Steering Wheel
  • Jam Protection on Power Windows
  • Microphone and Amplifier
  • Garnet Red Colour Option

We should be able to get clearer picture once the Website is updated.

Perhaps Toyota is targeting the taxi market? I haven't seen an awful lot of Crysta taxis in Kochi atleast.
Or is it the Marazzo effect?

From the list above, I feel it should have had:
  • Speed Sensing Door Lock
  • Impact sensing Door Unlock
  • Jam Protection on Power Windows (trust me, it's painful)
Unless I need the 7 seats, my pick would actually be the Creta.

This just seems 40-50k cheaper than the GX variant. Toyota can get rid of the alloys and shave another 40K i guess. I see crystas owned by avis in my office parking with steel wheels. Wonder if that is the "G" variant. Why won't Toyota let private buyers buy these variants.

The G Plus is targeted at non-fleet taxi buyers. The G variant as I know can be bought by private buyers if you pay full amount upfront. G plus does not make any sense for private buyers as for another 40k more you get music system and bunch of other features. Steel wheels are cheaper by about 2-3k a piece, hence the actual savings would be only about 10-12k.

Are you sure steel wheels are just cheaper by 2-3K per piece. For my Honda City a single steel wheel would be in the 1k region where as the original Honda dual tone allow would be in the 15K region. So around 14k saving per wheel or 48k for a set of four wheels.

15K for a 15/16 incher? Most of the 15-16 incher in market cost around 7K a piece. When I inquired for steel wheels for my erstwhile Innova, I was quoted a figure around 3K a piece. I don't think there will be difference of more than 3-4K as at the end of the day both are Alloys.
