Volkswagen opens new technology centre at Chakan plant, Pune
Volkswagen Group India opened New Technology Centre at Chakan plant Pune, as part of the India 2.0 plan. The New Technology Centre has been inaugurated today by Czech PM Andrej Babiš
The New Technology Centre has been inaugurated by a host of dignitaries including
Czech PM Andrej Babiš,
Christian Strube, board member for technical development, #SkodaAuto
and Gurpratap Boparai, Head, #VolkswagenGroupIndia
The technology centre will design and develop the next generation of cars from the #VolkswagenGroupIndia for the Indian market as per the #SkodaIndia-led India 2.0 plan
#VolkswagenGroupIndia will invest EUR 250 million in R&D. This will develop products with 95% localization, chassis and power train work will also be carried on here. Goal is 5% Indian market share.
The technology centre is the bedrock for all further projects for the brand under the India 2.0 plan. It will develop the MQB A0 IN platform under #SkodaAuto
The first concept based on MQB A0 IN platform concept will debut at the 2020 Auto Expo.
Given the flexibility of the MQB architecture other variations of the platform will also be localized here.
The technology centre will employ 250 engineers who will work on various aspects of the new cars. Source: Overdrive Twitter
