Rumour: Hyundai updates Elite i20 line up with new features

According to a media report, Hyundai has revised the 2019 Elite i20 line up and updated it with new features. The MY2019 Elite i20 will be available in Era, Magna+, Sportz+ and Asta (O) variants.

Rumour: Hyundai updates Elite i20 line up with new features-elite-i20.jpg

Features like rear parking sensors and Eco Coating are now standard across all variants. The Magna+ variant comes with chrome grille, DRLs and fog lamps, keyless entry, Bluetooth, steering-mounted audio controls and voice recognition.

According to the report, Sportz and Asta variants have been replaced with Sportz+. The single-tone variant gets 15-inch gunmetal alloy wheels, while the dual-tone variant gets 16-inch diamond cut alloys and black ORVMs. Other features include chrome grille, rear parking camera and sensors, Arkamys infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, sliding front armrest and tilt and telescopic adjustment for steering wheel. Wireless charging is offered on the CVT and dual-tone variants. Adjustable rear headrests are only offered on the latter. The top-spec Asta (O) also gets wireless charging.

Both petrol and diesel engine options have been carried over unchanged. The 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol makes 82 BHP and 115 Nm of torque and comes paired with a 5-speed manual or CVT. The optional continuously variable transmission (CVT) is available on the Sportz+ and Asta (O) trims. The 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit puts out 89 BHP and 220 Nm and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

Re: Rumour: Hyundai updates Elite i20 line up with new features

I bought my Magna CVT just last week!!!!! Ugh, why can't Hyundai keep it's variants stable?
First it deletes features and then it again rejigs it.
What's worst is that Magna CVT has been discontinued. Now the only way to get a CVT in i20 is to go for Sportz+ which would be expensive!

Re: Rumour: Hyundai updates Elite i20 line up with new features

Too bad, I have ended up booking a Asta CVT. Given chance I would have gone for the Asta (o) CVT which now comes with 6 airbags, adjustable head rests and center arm rest for the rear seat and start/stop button. Or may be I should be happy with the discount I got :(

Difference of approx Rs 80k is to be expected between the Asta CVT you've booked and the one that's being launched now. Add in the 50-70k discount you might've easily gotten, i think you're better off with the deal you've already made.

Still no rear wash-wipe except on Asta(O)? Even Maruti offers it on top two Swift/Ignis variants and three of Baleno.

Split rear seat is another feature which is badly missing.

Re: Rumour: Hyundai updates Elite i20 line up with new features

Any idea on the pricing?

The difference between earlier ASTA MT & AT ex-showroom was 1L+. That takes the price of petrol ASTA(O) AT to 9L ex-showroom which would translate to Bangalore OTR of around 11L
Hope my assumption is wrong.

And so does Ford. Right from trend variants. Wonder how premium are Hyundai's rear wash wipe that it has to be saved for top variant only

If current premium for the CVT is maintained, Asta(O) CVT will cost nearly as much as the Asta(O) CRDi.

Just bought the Magna Executive petrol for my wife 3 weeks ago. Of course I got a hefty discount of nearly 50k, but I would have really wanted remote locking and reverse parking sensors to have been part of the car. Had to fix both through the dealer due to warranty issues and having to now live with the irritating autocop's remote, plus the key and also the annoying locking sounds.

So with this variant rejig, is the Magna executive variant phased out and the new one is called the Magna plus?

Weird variant combination as always from Hyundai! While the i20 has speed sensing door lock, but no remote lock, My Creta SX has no speed sensing door lock but does have remote lock!

According to the rumour/news, the Magna Exec. will be discontinued and Magna+ will take it's place.
Only 4 trims now:
1. Era(Base)
2. Magna+(Most VFM with essential features imho).
3. Sports+(The best one to go for if you wan't almost everything).
4. Asta Option(Would be too pricey. Also doesn't offer much above the Sports+)

Re: Rumour: Hyundai updates Elite i20 line up with new features

If this Asta(O) CVT version would have been available 3 months back, it would have made my job of zeroing in on the Jazz VX CVT real difficult.
Unavailability of automatic transmission on the top trim, together with slightly bigger dimensions is the reason why I gave the i20 a miss and went for Jazz.

Gaadiwaadi.com article shows the new prices. And as expected the ASTA(o) CVT is priced at 9.11 ex-showroom. That would mean Bangalore OTR around 11L

Sports+ CVT is pegged at 8.21 L ex-showroom.

Re: Rumour: Hyundai updates Elite i20 line up with new features

Bought the Elite i20 Magna+ MT for my wife about a week back. For the price and the discounts on offer, I think it is excellent value for money.

My search was initially for an automatic with a budget of around 6.0-6.5 lakhs, and I had started with the WagonR 1.2L ZXI AMT. When the BS-VI version was launched recently and the OTR came to Rs 7.27L without any discounts, I had to re-think hard. The practical side of me didn't want to pay so much for a WagonR AMT (no offence!). I considered the AMTs in VXI & VXI (O) briefly but the lack of features for nearly 7 lakh rupees OTR put me off.

Shifted my attention to Hyundai and considered the Santro Sportz AMT initially. The updated Sportz AMT, with a reverse camera & seat belt pretensioners on board, came to Rs 6.31L minus discounts. The Grand i10 CVTs in Magna & Sportz variants were next, at Rs 6.86L & Rs 7.47L respectively (minus discounts). The deals were tempting, but I was wary of the news of the all-new Grand i10 launching in August.

I had a long talk with wife & Dad over this situation, and wife reassured me that she was quite comfortable to drive a manual. That brought the XCent S MT into the picture at Rs 6.74L. We decided to TD the XCent. The minute she got into the Grand i10, she felt it was perfect for her. I showed her the XCent which was standing next to it, but somehow she didn't like it. Just on a whim, I told her to get into an Elite i20 standing next to the XCent. She was immediately taken in by the space inside and the fit and finish. She came outside and checked all 3 cars carefully, and the first thing she pointed out was that the Elite i20 had bigger tyres than the i10 twins! After a short 15-minute TD of the i20 petrol with her eagle-eye observations, she was quite happy. I told her to get into the XCent's cabin afterwards, and she immediately got out after getting in, remarking that it felt quite small now!

The Elite i20 it was. For our budget, the Magna+ MT. Colour chosen was Typhoon Silver as it was the easiest to maintain. The car was nearly 7.45L OTR, but discounts and good relations brought it down to a smidge under 7L (all-inclusive) with zero-dep insurance and the deal was sealed.

For the rupees paid and considering the pricing of other cars in it's range + features on offer, I thought it was a steal.

The Magna+ misses out on:

Projector + automatic headlamps (not a necessity),
Alloy wheels (aftermarket options are better),
Automatic Climate Control (we don't miss it, though),
A touchscreen HU with NAV (for town running it's not missed at all!),
Six airbags (always welcome but at this budget?!),
Reverse camera (handy, missed),
Smart key (becomes useless with time anyway),
Rear defogger (handy, missed),
Rear wash and wipe (rarely used but useful to have).

The car has run nearly 200 kms since we got her (it had 7 kms on the ODO when I took delivery), and the MID shows ~14 kmpl. All inside the city, with the AC used at it's lowest cold setting for around 50% of the time (when it has been raining hard). That's pretty good, IMO.

Considering that other options at this price range come with similar features (no alloys, manual AC, dual airbags, reverse sensors only, smaller cabins, etc.), the Elite i20 Magna+ is an excellent option for those on a budget and on the lookout for a small urban runabout.

I wholeheartedly recommend it, if one doesn't need the convenience of an automatic.

Reminds me of the time we bought i20(D) top end two years ago. We went to book i10(P) top end. Out of curiosity I asked my wife to sit inside i20 for a couple of minutes. Next day, we booked i20 after having a few test drives.
Budget shot up by 4L, but, what the heck - we love the car now!
Some of the good decisions happen by chance.
Yesterday, a friend of mine who bought Tiago few months back drove with me and said, "Man, why is your diesel car quieter and smoother than my petrol car?" I could not help but smile
I wish you people have wonderful rides for the years to come.
