Mini Oxford Edition launched at Rs. 44.90 lakh

The Mini Oxford Edition has been launched in India at a price of Rs. 44.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Only 25 units will be imported as completely built units (CBU) and customers can place their orders on Amazon India.

The Mini Oxford Edition is based on the 3-door Cooper S. It comes with black rings around the headlights and tail lights as well as the radiator grille. It has black door handles and fuel filler cap. The car is available in 2 colour options - Solaris Orange and Midnight Black. Depending on the exterior colour, the ORVMs are painted in black or orange. The car also gets a contrasting roof and matte black decals on the bonnet and on the sides.

The Union Jack can be found at various places on the exterior and interior of the car such as the rear lights, side scuttles, door sill finishers, LED door projection, leather upholstery, illuminated dashboard and the steering wheel.

The Oxford Edition comes equipped with the John Cooper Works rear spoiler and aerodynamic kit, which includes front and rear bumpers, 17-inch alloy wheels finished in black and twin chrome exhaust tips. It also comes with a panoramic roof and an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a touchpad controller and Apple CarPlay connectivity, Harmon Kardon audio system with 12 speakers, navigation, wireless charging and ambient lighting.

The Mini Oxford Edition is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 189 BHP and 280 Nm of torque @ 1,250 rpm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It comes with 2 driving modes - Sport and Green. The car comes with an auto start/stop function with brake energy recuperation, active cooling air flaps and a head-up display.

The car is equipped with safety features such as airbags, ABS with brake assist, Dynamic Stability Control, traction control, Crash Sensor and Cornering Brake Control.

Here's the detailed brochure.

If configured similarly, this costs around 52 Lac, so sort of savings and exclusivity given the low numbers they will sell.

50+ lakhs for a Cooper . Blasphemous if you ask me. I really, really love this car, but will only recommend buying one pre-owned. Get one with a warranty and you're all set.

Here is my kind of a Mini Cooper - low miles, S variant, easily had for 15 to 17 lakh rupees - link.

This went under Auction with around 560 Km ( limited runs near to BMW Gurgaon training centre) and can be had for around 35 Lac!

Is it still expensive or something to consider?
