A semi-camouflaged test mule was caught at night by YouTuber TimVix.
Things seen:
Rear lamp LEDs,
Blacked out C-Pillar,
New alloy design,
A large touchscreen HU,
Blue/Teal coloured DRLs up front - design similar to the Nios.
I wasn't aware that the new Hyundai Xcent was christened Aura, so when I first saw these sketches online, I seriously thought that Hyundai is going to launch a new 2 door sports car rl:
I think Hyundai has mistakenly released the sketches of the concept car the Aura is based on :D
The Hyundai Aura willl be offered with a 1.2-litre petrol engine with 83 hp/114 Nm, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 100 hp/172 Nm and a familiar 1.2-litre turbo-diesel engine with 75 hp/190 Nm. All engines are BS VI.
The Hyundai Aura has been extensively tested in India and here’s a look at what all has been done. A total of 7750 km of testing done.
From teaser to reality - disappointing looks?

- The engine will comply with BS6 Emission standards and will come offered with a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT automatic transmission.
- Hyundai Will offer an option of 3 years/1,00,000km or 4 years/50,000km or 5 years/40,000 warranty packages for the Aura sedan and included is an offer for Road Side Assistance. as well.
- The new car is still sub 4-metre at 3995mm (length) but the wheelbase has grown by 25mm to 2450mm. The Aura is also wider than the Xcent by 20mm
Features include projector headlamps, 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, wireless charging, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Arkamys sound system, 5.3-inch digital speedometer and multi-information display among others!

I think this is the first diesel engine that is doing duty in both BS4 & BS6 avatar, so this will be the first time that we will see what is the actual difference in the engines. It can be approximated as (Aura BS6 diesel base - Nios BS4 diesel base +difference in petrol base version costs of Aura & Nios). Let's see whether it is really 1-1.5L as being claimed by many manufacturers.
The front portion and rear portion appear to be different vehicles.:uncontrol
Looking at the lack-luster enthusiasm in this thread, I doubt this product will succeed.
Yucks!!! what a horrible rear end design. Never expected this from Hyundai. And tail-lamp kinda looks Weird & After Market.
Surprisingly bad looking car from Hyundai

Completely agree with you, that blacked out pillar looks horrible. They should have kept it matching to the car color. Blacked out pillars only look good when the car has straight seamless lines.
Like many manufacturers these days, they seem to have over-designed the rear of the car. Even the Xcent did not have a particularly good looking rear design but it was simpler. This could have looked much better without the gross looking gloss C-pillar and the bar connecting the tail lights. They just look like cheap aftermarket mods. :Shockked:
And the award for best looking small sedan still stays with Zest.
All that chrome makes the rear of the Aura look worse than it actually is. Plus somehow i feel when the front end goes way lower than the rear i.e. somewhat like this " / " though not that extreme , small cars look disproportionate.
But looks aside, its got all the bells and whistles typical of Hyundai cars. Plus i like the fact that they mention "increased thigh support" for the rear. That will definitely help improve the comfort - i just hope it is significant increase that actually works.

Agree with you!
However, the rear (especially those tail lamps) looks very similar to the sketches released. The not so good thing is that the sketch looks slick and the actual one looks like a badly damaged Mercedes coupe.
The evergreen white color is not helping the case either.

Ford Aspire

Honda City (2nd gen Dolphin)

Hyundai Elite i20 + Honda Amaze (new)
Wow, Hyundai. Just wow.:Frustrati
P.S-. Atleast hope the 1.0 turbo engine is good.
I guess there should not be any need for sub 4 metre sedan segment anymore other than the cab segment especially such a bad looking one. At least the current Dzire and Amaze look reasonably ok.
There was a time when owning a sedan compared to a hatchback gave the owner some higher prestige value, which has now shifted to the SUVs.
I think a full sized hatchback or a sub 4m SUV(although more expensive) makes much more sense than the sub 4m sedan.
On a separate note the sub 4m GST benefit on cars now needs to be revised to 4.2 or 4.4 m in line with lifestyle inflation like revision in tax slabs etc. I guess customer preferences have moved and govt policies need to follow. Entry level/first car of buyers is not the same as it was 5 or 10 years ago.
The Indian buyer is now more discerning for design and quality which reflects in the numbers where Baleno, Seltos, Ertiga, Venue sell in as much numbers as Dzire, etc.

I will agree based on pictures shared on the forum. Need to see in person to make the final call. For now, from looks department, it does not stand a chance in front of Dzire or even Amaze. I like front end of Dzire and rear end of Amaze.
