re: The Tata Tigor Facelift, now launched

Diesel variants are no way in competition to the rest. Bad move by Tata. Petrol looks vfm.

The AMT variant is only available in Petrol XZA trim, and not in XZA+ trim, as clear from the launch update pricing and the brochure on the official website. Pricing is not put up on the website till now.

Attaching a copy of the brochure for other users.

The Tigor can be well be ..er.. Ignored.

I always found it pricier for what is essentially a Tiago based sedan. With this pricing, the Tigor JTP will surely go head to head with the top variants of competitors. Let's see how this turns out.

Perhaps.

Or, it's probably rather difficult to make fun of a product based on its name when it's already called "Xcent". What was Hyundai even thinking

VFM pricing for ONLY what the Petrol variant offers overall. The joke is now on TATA though for what they advertised. The diesel variants , bye bye.

Never aspired for or desired a tata vehicle in the past. Their new vehicles Hexa, Nexon, Tiago left me a bit amazed personally considering their past ones. Good enough products. Hope market perception changes along with service.

Tata has again missed the bus here as they continue with the weak powertrains. The sedan begs for better engines to match the oomph on the outside. 7 inch screen with Android auto and Apple car play is welcome. Time to give the same to Safari and Hexa along with passive keyless entry.

Yes, and this is exactly what makes the Aspire even more 'aspirational' in this segment. Good engines will always prevail over weak power trains with oomph on the outside.

The people who buy the compact sedans are generally those who seek value. I would imagine they care more about fuel economy than engine performance. I don't think this car caters to the enthusiasts. Just give them more chrome and they will gleefully take it.

Aspire is a better car, but have a look at the average sales figures for the last 6 months. It sells less than 1000 units a month compared to 2000+ units of Tigor. I do not think there will be any change in numbers for both the cars after their facelifts either (May be +10%).

Dzire and Amaze are more powerful and more fuel efficient. Ford has chosen a 3 cylinder petrol mill however it puts out 96 bhp and is fun to drive. Tigor sells because of style and better build quality. They can do much better numbers if they can provide better engines.

That's just theory. As Latheesh just mentioned, Aspire just sells half of Tigor with a supposedly better engine.

Tigor top end petrol costs way less than the equivalent Dzire. And do you really think there are enough people who give so much importance to engine in a car that they will buy a car that costs 1.3L more? I doubt there are many shopping in this segment. If people can put up with an ugly looking car to save a Lakh or so, they certainly won't mind a lackluster engine.

I also have a feeling (again just a theory) that people think Tigor is less of a car because of its shape. May be they think it's not a sedan. Perhaps another case of Tata over-estimating Indian car buying public, who knows.

It seems that the Airbags have been made standard across the variants. This is quite good considering that the prices have not changed a lot for the entry variants.

Will they make similar changes to the Tiago as well? The Tiago will look great in that blue color, I feel.

This was topic of debate in the Tigor official review thread as well. If the weak engine is just theory then Tigor would have been flying off the shelves. Aspire is not able to gather more sales as Ford departed from their DNA of solid build and fun to drive quotient. Also, the interiors and features were behind competition coupled with lackluster petrol engine. Coming months will tell how much ground Aspire gains with the facelift and new petrol engine.
Being strong in only one area will not make the product hit. Indian junta wants a complete package. Dzire and Amaze prove that.
IMO Tigor is getting the sales ruboff from Tiago as being a more stylish package with more features at a slight premium.
If the JTP versions are priced sensibly, Tiago and Tigor will add good numbers for Tata motors.

That's true. Unfortunately ABS and EBD are only available in the higher varients. This is a bad move.

ABS and EBD come higher than airbags on the priority of safety measures simply because they help avoid accidents in the first place.

Tata has gone for the eyeballs here (people check for airbags in the brochure now a days) over actual safety.
