Kia Optima Spotted in India

Kia Optima sedan spotted testing in India for the very first time by a Carwale reader.

the Optima is quite a large car and it will compete against the likes of the Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla and the recently announced Honda Civic. Apart from its generous dimensions, the Optima is quite a looker too. An aggressive front, sharp creases all over and plenty of sporty overtones means it is car that might hold its own against the competition when it comes to styling.

Globally the Optima comes with 7/8-inch touch screen display, 10-speaker Harman/Kardon speaker system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets a rear camera, rear park assist, lane change assist, powered driver and passenger seats and the works.

The Optima internationally is available with a range of petrol engines. There is a 2.4 litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.6 litre and 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol motors.

I spotted one yesterday on the Gurgaon- Delhi highway (around the airport). Seemed to be an executive of KIA being ferried around. Quite possible that they have imported a few to drive around the bosses. KIA has an office at the DLF Horizon centre on the Gold Course Road and it must accommodate a few Korean and Indian heads of business.

Had noticed these at the Delhi International airport on 10th June. Had come to pick up, presumably, one of Kia's senior management.

I think Kia have just got all their cars and it doesn't necessarily mean they are testing it for India. This car has no camo and is pretty much ready spec.

I really doubt Kia will look at the Optima for India. The D2 sedan segment is really really small with only the Superb and Camry that too Hybrid. SUV's are the flavour in India.
