Re: Rumour: 'Toyota Compact', a new sub-brand for emerging markets

If I am not wrong, Toyota sells Grade 1 and Grade 2 spare parts from its authorized spare part outlets. Both are Toyota genuine spare parts, one being superior in quality and higher in cost (translate to lasting longer (brake pads, clutch plates) and the other promoted as cheaper option, lasting a bit less. It was the customer's choice what he / she would like to go in for. Do I smell the same thing with 'Toyota Compact Car Company' being the poorer sister of Toyota!

It ofcourse is a known fact that the cost of spare parts in the Middle East was over inflated hence dealerships could offer upto 50% discount on them.

Re: Rumour: 'Toyota Compact', a new sub-brand for emerging markets

Emerging or not, Indian car customers have evolved by leaps and bounds. Indians are becoming more choosy and smart manufacturers are reaping the benefits of this change in the mindset. Classic case is how TATA revived itself from cold and has some real good cars to offer now and is investing more to make a clear statement here. Indian customers are far more informed than before and are becoming more demanding and this should translate to manufacturers catering to the needs than explore a market that is slowly shrinking (read that as the cheap, budget car space).

Toyota is arrogant, as always. Looking back, the Etios siblings just failed miserably even with a proper Toyota badge. Now imagine marketing a car with a pseudo Toyota badge? How tasteful is that going to be?

Initial Yaris numbers do not seem to be encouraging and this despite the fact that the car comes pretty loaded. Clearly shows how well established the nearest competitors are (Honda and Hyundai).

its just a matter time before Hyundai will be crowned the new Toyota!
