Impressive numbers for a 2l turbo. The torque spread is really good.

You can say that again. Good output for a 2L turbo. It's also 3 - 4 lakhs cheaper than the diesel on the road. Would consider it to be fairly priced, especially once the usual Audi discounting starts. Should help its sales numbers as crossovers (and cars overall) are showing a movement back to petrols.

Not really that impressive, it is almost identical to the GLC 300 specs that are below:
GLC 300 4MATIC
- Displacement : 1991
- Rated output (kW (hp) at rpm) : 180 (245) @ 5500
- Top speed (km/h) : 222
- Torque (Nm) @ rpm : 370 @ 1300 - 4000

The torque starts a bit later on the Q5 and hence stays on a bit longer. 370 Nm @ 1,600-4,500 rpm for the Q5. There is just a difference of 200rpm extra of torque that the Q5 lasts.
In all practicality, it is better to have the torque belt out as early as possible to avoid turbo lag and also make it more usable in city drives.

We have a GLC300 that we bought just a few months ago, its a great smooth drive with more than adequate power to be fun in the city. But it's no power house, once you take it out on the expressway, you find it running out of steam in it's top end.

Audi had to get this engine out since the GLC300 outsells the GLC220d of late.

The Q5 since launch has been CBU, is this version now a CKD? If not, it's not going to get many takers.

Straight from the horse's mouth (source):

In 2015, diesel vehicles accounted for 90 per cent of Audi's sales in India with the rest 10 per cent coming from petrol vehicles, he added.

"That has changed from last year to 70:30 and that trend is clearly also changing and we are aiming at a mix of 50:50 by 2020," Ansari said.
