Re: Kia Grand Carnival MPV coming in 2020. Edit: Launched @ 24.95 lakhs

Looks like Toyota is planning a Vellfire launch on 25th Feb. News gathered from Autocar. The seats are getting heated up this summer. Lets wait and watch.

Re: Kia Grand Carnival MPV coming in 2020. Edit: Launched @ 24.95 lakhs

They should launch a carvan version of the Carnival. It'll be a very interesting product. Carnival will be much cheaper and better looking than Toyota Vellfire. I doubt the success of Vellfire.

Seems like my delivery is delayed by few weeks owing to impact in parts production due to coronavirus.
Here is the detailed price list in NCR for reference, 4th and 5th year warranty is paid and optional

Re: Kia Grand Carnival MPV coming in 2020. Edit: Launched @ 24.95 lakhs

Today afternoon a brand new Kia Carnival overtook us on Tilak Road with garlands, bunting et al.

The vehicle is huge, the sliding door appears to have been picked up from a stretch limo, it is that big. Couldn't notice the variant, but man it has presence and that to bucketloads of it.

Only real issue arises when there are a lot of bikers on the road and they are not willing to either let you move ahead or even reverse while on U turns.

There is no doubt that it is a very competent car although the pricing is not going to help it once the initial hype settles down.
To each his own here sir, but I guess we both are sailing on the same boat. When I discovered that around 34 lac on road is the price of mid variant which doesn't get even leather seats; and 40 lac on road is for the top end. Well, I started looking at it only as more of a comfy cruiser - but not my type. I think I will be happy paying 27 big ones to Toyota for a Van or 40 to Toyota or Ford for an SUV. I know I am comparing apples to oranges; but then I am the one who has to consume it; and I would prefer something that can happily cruise at 120 kph on expressways, as well as hit the snowy mountains in Leh with equal grace.

And how many of those V cross do you see on our roads? It is not about rewiring and getting used to. One can get used to even driving a truck. That is beyond the point of discussion. But to be a major player in the market and establish a decent footprint, a car needs to cater to a large segment of buyers. The V cross doesn't. Yes, a few people will have ample space in their homes and offices or would buy this as their 2nd or 3rd car and limit it to outstation trips but this can never be a primary car. The Innova trumps it in that aspect and I feel Innova's size is just at the far end of acceptability when it comes to parking and narrow roads. Anything still bigger would be that much more impractical.

Re: Kia Grand Carnival MPV coming in 2020. Edit: Launched @ 24.95 lakhs

I went to see KIA at Ekkatuthangal showroom in Chennai. It is huge, 2nd row has lot of space and in fact, with the gap between two seats in the 2nd row, a kid can sleep in that space. But I felt KIA could have given an option of a bed by combining 1st row passenger seat and its seat in the 2nd row. The passenger seat almost reclines to a flat bed, but not to be. This could have been a great selling point for enticing travellers driving for long hours.

Also, the foot rest option in the Limousine variant is useless. It doesn't open fully and if you use that, you will end up hitting the front seat.

Came across a Carnival today. The vehicle is sufficiently large, and was quick. Not so much of a head-turner, and overdone either - sober looks that can go well with the exec crowd.

^^
For the guys who cannot make out due to the language, this car has alignment issues which Kia Dealership is unable to fix. As per the owner, car pulls to the left and has already damaged 2 front tyres in less than 2000 km despite repeated alignment at dealership and an outside specialist. They have since replaced front tyres but the alignment issue is not resolved.

He is asking for complete refund or a new car.

Absolute nonsense. I had a similar issue with my Hexa when it was new. Alignment was out. Vehicle pulled left and nobody knew the correct values. The ones mentioned in the manual were wrong, TASS had no clue and the data they got from Tata never worked. The values of the Safari Storme as well as that of Aria didn’t set her straight either. Finally, the guys at the flagship MRF TireTok store did an old school manual alignment, and got it 95% right. Their software didn’t have the Hexa listed in it back then in early 2017, and they promised they will check up with MRF and get the data updated. This was done in a couple of months and sure enough, the final alignment was spot on.

People need to understand that sometimes, it happens that things like alignment parameters are not provided correctly to dealers initially. It shouldn’t happen, but it does. Clear communication is the key. Kia must make sure that the customer who has paid 40L mustn’t be made to run around. The Carnival costs Mercedes money, and you can’t treat your clients this way. The dealers must be sensitised about this and strictly trained to be very careful and courteous in handling such cases.

Re: Kia Grand Carnival MPV coming in 2020. Edit: Launched @ 24.95 lakhs

Got allotment confirmation of my booking from Kia, and delivery of the car on 13th-15th March.
Can senior bhpians/experts please provide view if the issue raised could be just one-off and can be ignored, or something to wait and watch more before proceeding with the delivery.
Its huge money on the table and honestly don't want to take chances, my understanding was it is tried and tested product, and with all this now concern is more on the turn around of the issue rather than issue itself.

That's a very good number considering the price point at which it sells and its old-school van looks.

Is it sustainable just like Fortuner, Scorpio, EcoSport and Innvoa are holding their market? Need to wait and see.

Kia is launching products identifying the gaps and priorities of the market. Along with Hyundai, it now possesses 22% market share even though it affected Creta sales. Good job.
