Range Rover Evoque Convertible launched at Rs. 69.53 lakh

Land Rover has launched its Range Rover Evoque Convertible in India. It is available in the HSE Dynamic trim and is priced at Rs. 69.53 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The Evoque Convertible is based on the 3-door version of the Evoque. It measures 4,370 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,609 mm in height, while its wheelbase is 2,660 mm. It has a maximum wading depth of 500 mm and the maximum towing capacity is 1,500 kg.

The Evoque Convertible in HSE Dynamic trim comes with a gloss black grille flanked by adaptive full LED headlights, dual-tone front bumper with black inserts and large intakes on either side. It has black louvres on the bonnet, while the A-pillar and ORVMs are also finished in black. The hard top has been replaced with an electric folding fabric roof.

The rear end looks similar to the standard Evoque except that it now has a raked rear windshield (with the roof up) and a boot spoiler. The tail lights with U-shaped inserts are identical to the hard top version, while the Range Rover badges, tailgate trim and rear scuff plates are finished in black. Moreover, luggage space is limited and can accessed via an unconventional tailgate, which swings up to reveal a rectangular loading area.

The interiors of the Evoque Convertible are identical to the hard top. It has a 3-spoke steering wheel and a twin-dial instrument cluster. The centre console houses a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired with a 13-speaker audio system by Meridian. It packs features like Bluetooth, navigation and Wi-Fi hotspot. The climate controls and drive selector are placed on a sloping centre console. There are two more seats in the back with a folding centre armrest and separate air-conditioning vents.

In India, the Evoque Convertible is offered with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 237 BHP @ 5,500-6,000 rpm and 340 Nm of torque @ 1,500-4,000 rpm and is mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shift. Land Rover claims that it will do 0-100 km/h in 8.1 seconds and has a top speed of 217 km/h. It has an all-wheel drive system with features like All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC), hill descent control, dynamic stability control, torque vectoring and Roll Stability Control (RSC). It also has engine start/stop, cruise control and park assist with a 360-degree camera.

Some of the standard safety features available on the HSE Dynamic trim include ABS, 7 airbags and ISOFIX child safety seat anchor points among others.

Yuck. This looks horrible to my eyes. The Evoque on it’s own is a stylish, good looking car..infact so stylish that almost all Land Rover cars look like it now (which is disappointing to me as I used to love the boxy design of the previous gen cars, which also suited their character). But remove the top off and it looks awkward and downright ugly.

A convertible design only suits a sedan. Period.

Gods! What an abomination! Looks like the result of an unholy union between a mutant bullfrog and a clothes iron. Kill it! The only convertible SUV that looks good is the two door Wrangler.

With the top down, it looks like it came out of that Leepu guy's workshop. Maybe it will grow on me, but right now it definitely looks disproportionate and abnormal.

Looking at the corvertible just made me question about the safety aspects. Dont see a rollbar, so if the car turns turtle,it's going to be all that weight on the A pillar. Man what a disappointment.

Damn ugly and too impractical for India. I think this is just a launch to somehow 'stay in the news'. Similar to how Mercedes launches a new CBU every Thursday afternoon after their lunch.

For that rare person who really wants a stylish convertible in India, nothing quite like the Mini Cooper. It is overpriced, but at least it's stylish & a hoot to drive.

If someone really wants an SUV open top/convertible - I would suggest they go for the Stinger based on the TUV. That looks equally good /bad in comparison and might cost substantially less ( as and when launched )

They picked the right weather to launch this. Wonder if they will do a launch event drive on the Rann of Kutch like many other

Re: Range Rover Evoque Convertible launched at Rs. 69.53 lakh

This is a joke, right? Tell me it's a joke!

How could anyone in their right mind allow a beautiful vehicle like the Evoque be mutilated like this?

The only example that comes close is the first-gen Dzire which took the beautiful Swift and added a rump that Kim Kardashian would disown. But at least that had practical value (and the sales chart reflect that!)

Nobody is going to buy this- ever!

Absolute pointless unless you go off-road to pursue falconry.

It is slightly more practical than the Suzuki X90 in the 1990's. Most of them (with huge wheels) in the UK were driven by 50+ year old women. Guess they seeked quantity over quality.

The Evoque Convertible certainly looks weird but at least, it isn't as bad as the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet.

Re: Range Rover Evoque Convertible launched at Rs. 69.53 lakh

As much as some of us might hate the looks, chicks will dig it!

Girls love the Range Rover SUV's and particularly the Evoque, now that it is available in a funkier avatar the younger girls would find it appealing. There are several successful young women around that want their own set of luxury wheels and there as also plenty of daddy's rich girls who would opt for this having used the Mini for a few years already.

Limited market but it will find some buyers.

Whileooks are subjective, the Evoque convertible has decent space in the back with the top down. And is a total attention magnet on the road.
