Bingo ! Your observation seems to the best explanation for the monochrome MID and manually adjustable ORVM stalks among others. I firmly believe that Tata would not miss out on these features especially when there is such hype around the Harrier. Also recent launches from the stable have been loaded to their gills with features (prime example being NEXON).

I feel, sometimes we try to speculate too much. These are simple test cars and test cars do not have variants like base to top. Test cars are made with mix of feature set with no predefined rule. Most of the times they have parts for placement and utility purpose which mostly will not make in final version.

That is not possible in the real world conditions.

With a 15 kmpl average FE, we are looking at a fuel tank of 105 litres!

That manual mirror adjustment knob and manually dimming mirror though! Hope the production variants get the electrical/auto variants.

Agree - and the tank is already less than full. If it had been full, and had got a 65 lit tank with a 25kmpl real-world FE, then may be ..

About the mirror adjustment stalk - this one could be a lower end variant.

More details about the auto box from Autocar:

Quote:
That the Tata Harrier SUV – scheduled to go on sale in January 2019 – will use a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre diesel engine is common knowledge now. What is an interesting development, however, is Tata Motors’ choice of an automatic gearbox for the diesel variant of the Harrier. The SUV won’t use Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ nine-speed automatic gearbox (as was widely expected) but will instead get a six-speed auto from Hyundai.

It is understood that the FCA nine-speed auto was proving to be too expensive for the Harrier project, which has been developed to meet strict cost targets. Notably, the nine-speed gearbox will make its India debut on the Jeep Compass Trailhawk towards the end of 2018. Sources tell us Tata Motors has found a good (and cost-effective) match for the 2.0-litre engine in Korean carmaker Hyundai’s six-speed torque converter automatic.

“The Hyundai transmission is well suited to the power and torque characteristics of the 2.0-litre Fiat diesel, and is significantly cheaper than the FCA transmission, so it made more sense for us to use it,” said a Tata Motors source. This six-speed automatic currently does duty on the Tucson and a number of other models in Hyundai’s portfolio.

The six-speed auto will be offered on the five-seat, 140hp Harrier, as well as on its as-yet unnamed, seven-seat, 170hp sibling that will go on sale at a later date. Both SUVs will be offered with Tata’s all-wheel-drive system, too.

Tata Motors’ decision to give due priority to an automatic transmission option on the Harrier is in line with the steady rise in demand for automatics in India. Interestingly, in the past, the demand for the automatic variant of the Hexa exceeded the company's internal projections.

The interior design seems to be closely inspired from Land Rover Discovery Sport.

Based on the two pictures above, I have a stronger feeling that Tata is just using the Discovery Sport's dashboard for its test vehicles. Highly improbable that they would use an exact copy for the Harrier.

Initially, I did think the same. But, there are few things to note.
1. No need to cover up the dash if its just the Discovery shell [inside-out].
2. Also, there is no gear stick in Discovery while the spy shots has one.
3. The overall layout is just an inspiration from Discovery, but not the exact replica as far as I see in the spy shots.

Prem.

I cannot fathom why Tata cannot use the 2.0 ingenium diesel and has to go to Fiat and pay them royalties to user their engine when there is one in house and a better one at that too. No customer is going to cross shop between a harrier and a Land Rover Discovery. They can use different branding for the engine and use the detuned state because even in detuned state it has got more power.

I doubt Ingenium engine is made in India. So import will be costlier + potentially arms length pricing rules etc.

Fiat might be supplying same engine in India with ready parts support at far lesser

Thanks - but the article is quite vague with no timelines. So maybe this could be a future plan assuming its not too hi-tech and expensive compared to the price at which Fiat would supply

From this link in the previous page. An aim at the taxi market as well, perhaps? My Vista has powered mirrors (not foldable though).

re: Tata H5X Concept @ Auto Expo 2018. Named Tata Harrier! EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 12.69 lakhs

As per this article in ET Auto, Harrier is speculated to be priced between Rs 12L to 16L, right in Creta territory.

They have not mentioned the source or any other basis of their speculation but looks spot on.
