I beg to differ, I think the new generation TATAs are fairly reliable.
Not sure which cars you are referring to - Zest, Tiago, Tigor, Nexon, Hexa ?

All seem good to me. Also time will tell how these new generation TATAs age, my 4 year old Zest is holding itself well, in spite of being parked in the open I do not see any issues with the colour or plastics.

There is no information available on the Harrier site.

I don’t know did you own a Tata car, but my cousin who used to work for FCA who was among the test drivers for them once told me, “Tata cars are built like stones or tanks, parts might break or shatter but they won’t leave you stranded anywhere, will work and take you to places in that state”

These alloys look neat on the Harrier. I myself might upgrade to these if I get a good deal. I have been contemplating on a paint job vs upgrades for a while.

Tata is really driving a lot of people up the wall here - normally I appreciate why there are no ETAs on Official Reviews, but Tata has turned this into a ridiculous situation - but I'd really like an update on this count (and a whole lot of others too, I imagine).

Sorry guys. Aditya waited the entire of December, January & February for the Harrier in Bombay. With no ETA from Tata, he called for the XUV300 in end-February.

Finally, in the 1st week of March, we heard from Tata that the Harrier demo is ready for us. We'll be calling for it only after the XUV300 review is complete. With official reviews, its FIFO (first-in, first-out).

I hate the way that Tata botched up the introduction of such an important car. For one, cars launched months after the Harrier have been made available to us before the Tata. Then, there are the issues with production, quality etc. Trust Tata's engineers to build what appears to be a good car (and an important one), but its marketing + PR to mess things up.

With car launches, you MUST strike when the iron is hot. In comparison, see how Maruti & Hyundai support their new launches.

P.S. No AT in a segment where customers prefer ATs! What kind of preparation is this?

Spotted two privately owned Harrier in two days. Both in orange shade. On road, this actually appears little smaller than XUV500. I presume the XUV is taller and hence better road presence. The fit and finish appeared slightly better than XUV 500.

No way will I agree to that. I have used multiple Tata cars for a few lakh km. One 2005 Indica for our sales staff did 3.24 Lakh km and the was sold with untouched engine, and body line was correct till the end.
Tata cars in that era came with niggles, but a good driver could list them out and sit on the SA's head to get them ironed out during first two or three services, once done the car would run and run and run with only routine maintenance.
In comparison see the body sound from a 60k run Brezza from the so called most reliable company.
If you ask any Pune resident who travels to Mumbai Airport, the largest operator KK Travels had 170 Tata Aria cabs, and most had done 5 Lakh + km when retired from service.

Add one 20-year-old Sumo 4x4, still running around very troublefree. Annual insurance costs more than annual maintenance.

I think the sample size is too small to generalize and we will also have to look into market where the majority of the car owners don't treat their car as well as a BHPian would. Yes there are Indica's plying on our road's which have put lakhs of miles but how does it fair against a similarly driven Etios/Swift or a Figo, there are no statistics to prove that Indica's have faired better(At least I am not aware of).

That said I believe current crop of Tata cars like Nexon/Hexa/Tiago are fairly reliable, but they don't have a strong past legacy to prove it, it will take time to achieve the status. In auto industry you cannot change people's opinion in 3-4 year with 2-3 products- Period.
