I noticed a considerable amount of brake dust on the alloys of the Harrier. Let me share a pic. The amount of brake dust visible was, after using the vehicle for less than 300 km after a wash.

Re: Tata H5X Concept @ Auto Expo 2018. Named Tata Harrier! EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 12.69 lakhs

I just checked out the demo vehicle at KHT Motors.

Acres of space in the cabin. Even the rear middle passenger has a good amount of room. Nice premium and imposing feel to it both inside and out. I liked the looks and size. Adequate and well designed boot.

The ergonomics do seem a little below par. My Punto has a more comfortable dead pedal. Clutch is too long. I am 5'10" and managed to find a decent position with full control of clutch while still keeping a bit of my elbow on the armrest. The left knee was almost ok (half inch more space needed). This makes me think that with AT I should be fine. Rear middle seat backrest is a bit hard.

The side ORVMs are huge like others mentioned. Need to be checking blind spots in city traffic continuously.

Pending a TD, I can say that the 7 seater version with AT might be perfect for my family. But I want to note that the only reason the Hexa XTA isn't my ride now is because of the lack of ESP. When paying 20L and taking an SUV on the highway, safety is a top priority for me.

General comparisons (based on a very cursory look though!):

Creta doesn't inspire the same feeling at all. Compass has a nice classic Jeep look which lures you in. But it felt small once I was inside. Good for a family of 3 or 4 but nothing more. No such problems with the Harrier. I haven't been in an XUV so can't comment on that.

On a lighter note, we all know now which colour Harrier to avoid if we wanted to be absolutely sure we are getting the final production versions and not the pre-production ones.

Not only that, those who are getting their Harrier from Concorde Prabhadevi branch, can be doubly sure that it's not the TD car, which had an accident.

Image seems to be a cropped version of the image posted on this very thread 2 pages back (post #3193). Unless of course the same person who sent it to TBHP has sent it everywhere, the other website should've actually given courtesy to TBHP IMO.

Brake pads need to bed in for ~500 Km. Till such time they do tend to share unusually high amounts of brake dust especially from the fronts.

From what I can see, the picture looks far lesser than what my Cruze and Octavia used to emit!

A video of the Harrier XZ in the Orcus White shade. Looks great - doesn't look like there are any issues with panel gaps / shutlines.

Re: Tata H5X Concept @ Auto Expo 2018. Named Tata Harrier! EDIT: Launched @ Rs. 12.69 lakhs

Caught this camouflaged Harrier earlier in the afternoon on the Outer Ring Road in Bangalore. Seems to be an early prototype going by the bolt on temporary headlights and tail lights.

Could it be the Autobox under test? The other point of interest is the KA registration - Bosch or Harman testing something for Tata?

Cheers,
Uday

KA01 = Koramangala where Bosch have a facility and driver is wearing a blue shirt (=Bosch employee uniform color).

Black alloys in the same design. Could it be a special edition Harrier or a JTP like sports version?

I think the black alloys are used on the 7 seater mules. Our good friend nainan has provided some great theories to support that claim. See this post (Rumour: 7-seater Tata Harrier to be launched by end-2019).

It is also a full size bigger - a fact that one will appreciate only if you sit inside and drive the vehicle. Compared to the cramped interiors of the Compass with its claustrophobically small glass area and the upright rear bench (a Jeep trademark) the Harrier is a full size up on the Jeep. The Compass is based on a Fiat 500XL floorpan while the Harrier is based on the Disco Sport - two vastly different platforms.

The Harrier is supremely comfortable compared to the target market players. It may lack 2 cramped 3rd row seats compared to the XUV, but it accommodates its quota of 5 in much more comfort.

It does lose out on engine sound refinement to the 3 others around its price-band, though. Which is strange since it shares the engine with the Compass. I suspect it may have to do with engine bay resonance as the two sides of the engine bay are hollow (you can see the insides of the fender), because the firewall and bonnet insulation seem fairly comprehensive on a cursory look.

Since both have the same wheelbase and the rear overhang is still the same as H5X, its still a Harrier 5 seater.

The wheelbase of the 5 and 7 seater are the same according to most media reports especially in the time after the Harrier launch. The rear overhang has been reported to be longer by about 60 mm.

I know I too have many times wondered of any of them are really true but almost all if not all media reports for the 7 seater sightings are accompanied by mules who have black alloys. I also think given that Tata has confirmed a launch just after the 45X in July this would be a logical time to see mules of the same.
